EASTLAKE, Ohio -- A 20-year-old man has been charged after being accused of assaulting a 17-year-old boy he caught sexually assaulting a 5-year-old boy, police say.
Richard Adams, of Painesville, is charged with felonious assault in the incident that happened about 8:15 p.m. Thursday on East 363rd Street near Vine Street, according to court records and a police report.
The 17-year-old has been charged with rape, the report says.
Adams walked in on the boy sexually assaulting the child and started fighting with him, the report says.
Police did not say if either of them were injured or provide any information on the childs condition.
Police have not released any further details on the incident.
There are no reports of the 17 year old being hospitalized in serious condition or worse. I say any roughing up was incidental and the 20 year old shouldnt have been arrested.
He would have never been charged if this had happened in Texas.
Not guilty.
based on the limited information, the 20-year-old should be hailed as a hero, and whoever charged him should be arrested for obstruction of justice.
Way to go Ohio..../sarc
17 year-old rapist must be a member of a chosen race.
Or a chosen religion.
Or a chosen sexual deviancy.
Or all three.
But, perhaps I am being judgemental, and the 5 year old brought it on himself - He wanted to go to NeverNever Land with Michael Jackson.
He should he held up as a hero. Hopefully this will be expunged from his record.
17 isn’t a child, he should have whacked him!
There is a great sickness in our Nation, from top to bottom.
Fake news.
I joined the Marine Corps when I was seventeen.
That’s no boy, that’s an adult.
The reporter and the editor should be embarrassed for publishing this article with such limited facts.
Why did no one ask the police or the prosecutor why the 20 year old was being charged? I would think there would have to be some sort of extenuating circumstances to do so justifiably. So the implication here is that there was no justification.
A 17 year old is not a “boy” in the way that word is usually understood to mean a child. He is nearly an adult. Unless he is developmentally disabled giving the impression that he is a child is wrong. That man should not have been charged at all.
World gone mad.
In many states stopping a violent felony in progress can be justification for use of deadly force. In this case it seems like the 20 year old man used reasonable, proportional force to stop a forcible child rape in progress. The rapist is lucky he wasn’t more seriously injured or killed, and the police should be thanking the 20 year old for stopping the crime in progress.
More money for lawyers, law enforcement, counseling, bureaucracies, etc. etc.
That’s how and why the system is rigged against common sense.
Typical for Cleveland.
A 17 year old in Michigan is an adult, and appears in the District and Circuit Courts. My advice to the young man, tell the judge you will not appear in court if bonded out, and put the ball back in their court. What is the max? 90 days.
If he had killed the rapist, in any sane place that act would be classified as “justifiable homicide”.
The only crime beyond the horrific rape is if the 17YO maintains any functional use of their limbs.
