Come to think of it my cat’s claws are getting sharp, time for a trim.
Keep a towel handy. When they jump for your throat, catch them with the towel. But it isn’t the claws you need to worry about - when they really go after you, they use the fangs.

One of the things I kind of like about cats is that they are identical in structure and behavior to felines 70 times larger than them, and if they were that big, you would be dinner.
But instead of dinner, we are slaves.
One of our cats we rescued when, as a tiny kitten, she wandered into our yard and never left. I didn't want to steal someone's kitten but she would sleep on our deck, drink water from puddles in our yard, and eat the mice and moles in the neighborhood. She never left our property. I took her in and she basically bonded only to me.
She is the only one of our cats that seems to shed the outer layer of her claws and I have never had to trim them.
She is now laying on my desk right next to my keyboard, snoring.
