An 88-year-old Tennessee woman has been mauled to death by six German shepherds, with the authorities considering criminal charges against the dogs’ owner.
Jill Peterson was viciously attacked by the dogs on Tuesday night behind her own home while clearing a drainage ditch.

“They dragged her down the yard and all of her clothes were off, her shoes, everything. They tore all of her hair out, the casket can’t be open, it’s like a nightmare. It’s hard to believe,” sister Nina Brown told News Channel 5.
She tried to get Peterson into the backyard but she only drew the attention of the feral dogs to herself. “Three of the dogs came after me. They started after me and I had to call 911,” she said.

I don’t know why authorities are “considering” charges against the shepherd owner, because that owner is totally responsible for what happened to that lady.
This makes me very sad. I love German Shepherds and old ladies.
German Shepherds can be quite dangerous, and in a pack all of their personalities are amplified.

Poorly written. Per The Tennessean, the dogs are owned by one man, and a grand jury will be convened next month to determine whether charges are warranted.
Because they are dogs. Not Walt Disney animals who talk, fall in love, and have babies. All dogs bite and all can be drawn into a pack mentality.
That's where the "neighbor" belongs too.
Makes me angry to think that this woman lived to be 88 years old only to die because of some insecure low-life needed vicious dogs to boost his self-esteem.

It is never the dog’s fault. It is always the owner’s fault, whether the owner is present or not. Bad training, lack of training, lack of socialization, in and out of the family, and in the end lack of control, either by the owner’s inability to handle the dogs, or the owner not securing the dogs.
Even house-trained dogs can quickly revert to feral, when they travel with feral dogs in a pack. Same for cats, and people.

My guess is that it wasn’t about self-esteem. 6 dogs that tore Ms. Peterson apart? They weren’t born that way. I’ll wager the owner was training them to be guard dogs for drug dealers or for dogfighting. Those calls to the cops should have started an investigation. I hope the grand jury rectifies that.
