A few years back, son-in-law’s dad caught a California spiny lobster that was about 15 to 18 pounds. Simply massive. They don’t have the big claws, so a lot of that weight was the tail. I’m guessing you’d have loved it.

Two, iirc.
If seafood is tasteless then it was frozen and became freezer burned or at least dehydrated causing the flavor to disappear.

IOW, the SJW protests against Costco will begin immediately.
Thanks Red Badger.

Sam’s has a cool trick for dealing with that problem. They dip their lobster tails in some kind of viscous saline solution before they freeze them. The frozen saline coats the tails and prevents both freezer burn and drying. It’s a little like what happens with a whole tenderloin that’s coated in its own natural ooze and vacuum packed in air tight plastic where the ooze freezes, protecting the meat and is, in turn, protected by the plastic wrap. A tenderloin that’s protected and frozen that way will last a few years if kept frozen at subzero temperatures. I know, I’ve done it.
Probably a starving man.
And someone who had watched animals chow down on oysters.
If the creature comes out of the ocean, I’ll eat it.
I think the Asian philosophy is if it ever moved or wiggled on its own then it’s edible.
long ago I read a passage that described lobsters so large that early settlers could walk across the water on their backs. Now I believe it.
I’ll see your sunfish and raise you a catfish: https://ftw.usatoday.com/2019/03/massive-catfish-caught-by-13-year-old-is-a-pending-texas-record
Thats exactly what were eating tonight. California spiny lobster. They are sooo good. Thats the only kind of lobster we get. Hubby used to be a diver and would dive for lobster. Now my neighbors at the marina all take advantage of lobster season. This year was a good one.
Nice!
We flew into the Abacos one time on our way to Green Turtle Cay. You can only get there by ferry. Our plane was late so we missed the last ferry. They sent it back for us. When we finally got to the hotel the manager came out and apologized to us that all they had left for dinner was lobster. Lol. Small hotel with one seating for dinner and you had to make a choice from 2 items by noon everyday.
Vacuum packed?
Makes sense:) $23 for a lobster roll here last week at the local seafood place.
