US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials seized 1 million pounds of pork products at the Newark, New Jersey maritime point of entry Friday. The meat is believed to have been smuggled from China, where there is currently an outbreak of the African swine fever (ASF).
During a Friday news conference, officials announced the seizure of over 50 shipping containers containing pork products.
"Agriculture specialists made a critical interception of these prohibited animal products, and stopped them from entering the US before they could potentially cause grave damage," Troy Miller, director of CBP field operations for the cities of New York and Newark, announced, NewJersey.com reported.
The ASF virus, while posing little threat to humans, is deadly for pig populations. In January, China reported an outbreak of the disease on a pig farm partly owned by a Danish investment fund, Reuters reported at the time.
The farm is the largest to have been affected by the disease, and since that time over 100 farms across China were infected beginning in August 2018. Over 200,000 pigs on infected farms were subsequently culled, Reuters reported.

There are FBI press releases at the HQ level and also at individual district levels and also DOJ press releases and press statements and as investigations go on there are updates but you have to keep your eyes open for them as the press doesn’t bother to report them all. Eventually thee names wi turn up like these did in other cases:
“The FBI publishes the indictments on their web sit as soon as thy have identified specific people to indict.”
But our “inquisitive press” very seldom follows up, unless of course the perps are Republicans. So I guess by the process of deduction, the perps are either RATs or Foreigners the press does it’s best to protect from public scrutiny. I just wonder if we would go to war with China if the American public really knew the true extent of what they are doing to our country.
“China possesses about 57% of the worlds pigs.”
I’m actually kind of perplexed why China would export any pig meat. They go out of their way to import as much as they possibly can to meet the demand. Unless they are not eating their own diseased meat and need to get it out of the country to make some kind of profit. Which would be my guess.
I just had an idea... You know all those paper products that are recycled and China is no longer accepting. Why not mix it into the pig feed, feed the pigs all the cardboard and paper waste mixed along with the pig feed and ship that meat over to China
Anyone who thinks the Chinese give a s**t about US fentanyl deaths any more than some scumbag Mexican drug lord is delusional.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I believe it is a form of warfare on the part of the Chinese, and POTUS hinted to that in one of his public addresses regarding drugs. Trump said, “It’s almost like warfare.” I think that was as direct as he wanted to be. A raid (Nebraska) seized enough Fentanyl to kill 26 million people last May (one or two mg is fatal).
And in Pickering, Canada, located on the waterfront across Lake Ontario from New York, carfentanyl
was seized in a quantity capable of killing over a billion people. Doubt it was intended for the Canadians.
“Carfentanil is 100 times more potent than fentanyl. According to the AG of New Jersey, 45 kilograms of fentanyl is enough to kill 18 million people. A similar amount of carfentanil, at 100 times the potency of fentanyl, is enough to kill 100 times that number which is somewhat less than 1.8 billion people, assuming it is of the same purity. And even if it is of a lesser purity, it is still enough to kill tens of millions of people. “
The man arrested in possession of this drug also had 33 guns and magazines for them.
War by any other name is still war. China has a Swine Plague problem and I think they want the US to have that problem too.
Ethics, decency , and the rule of law means absolutely nothing to the Communist Chinese. Money is everything. And whatever gives them that and in the process compromises the US.
Destined for Chinese restaurants, or what? Who would use meat smuggled from China. Ick.
Things that make you go hmmmmm.
Note; how this pork would *not* have been harmful to people eating it. It would instead be quite harmful to pig populations. In other words, the domestic pig industry.
Now I do not know whether the Chinese are particularly discerning whether they dump people-toxic crap on us or industry-toxic crap on us. I think it would be horrifically rotten and rapidly attributable for a number of people to die or get seriously ill upon eating Chinese pork; but if said pork was instead a sub-rosa threat to a domestic industry, that would seem a far more strategic exercise.
We have a political class in Wash DC 85% of which the Clinton model; eg; selling out US interests for money; that of being immune or ideally immune from prosecution for espionage; even if what is being transferred are missile guidance secrets etc; is an irresistable attraction.
And it doesn’t have to be defense related. Did you know the latest stink in China-US IP theft was a process developed by Coca-Cola regarding the inside coating of soda cans?
They steal absolutely everything they can.
War by any other name is still war. China has a Swine Plague problem and I think they want the US to have that problem too.
***************************************
They almost certainly do want us to be so plagued. China is NOT our friend. They want to weaken us by all means possible.
It’s my understanding of the Smithfield deal that U.S. swine are shipped to China for slaughter and packaging and shipped back. STUPID deal. I think they KEEP our pork, and send us their putrid disease ridden crap. This shipment caught in NJ is exhibit A.
That was my guess also.
Chinese Embassy Robocall Scam Rakes in $40M From Victims
The Mandarin-language calls have been bombarding residents across the US. Unfortunately, the scam managed to swindle actual victims by tricking them into thinking they were in legal trouble with the Chinese government, the FBI said on Thursday.
