Bramps thanks but it all worked out ok.
I took a couple of Puerto Rican kids with no pop and just horrific “boyfriends” in their past.
Got to watch mom get raped and beaten lots of times.
They were 13 and 15 when I met them.
I’m HARD on them sometimes and other times soft.
I think the 15 year old is lost. Got him too late.
The one that was 13 is 15 now and we are talking about college.
When I drove them to Long Island from Brownsville in Brooklyn they were so scared.
They didn’t know there was a world past that square mile.
Just generation after generation thrown away.
I had a WHOLE FAMILY of support, dozens of folks, good people, and I STILL went wild.
What chance do these kids have?
Almost none.
What SUCKERS. Broken homes and drug addicts and kids in prison for life by 18
While rich liberal politicians live fantastic lives and couldn’t give a DAMN about those they say the are so concerned about.
Sorry for the rambling!
I’ve mentored 3 Spanish boys whose dad left them 15 years ago. They were 2, 7, and 12 at the time and living in subsidized housing and are all doing great right now. The then 12 year old may have been similar to your 15 year old but I never relented with him (which meant he has been bounced off a wall or two), always let him know that I loved him which is why I was always on his back yet I still had his back. I could almost tear up as I tell you he is now thriving in the Army. So fwiw, keep the faith and never give up because they are worth it.
Ramble on. You are talking the truth.
