I’ve mentored 3 Spanish boys whose dad left them 15 years ago. They were 2, 7, and 12 at the time and living in subsidized housing and are all doing great right now. The then 12 year old may have been similar to your 15 year old but I never relented with him (which meant he has been bounced off a wall or two), always let him know that I loved him which is why I was always on his back yet I still had his back. I could almost tear up as I tell you he is now thriving in the Army. So fwiw, keep the faith and never give up because they are worth it.

Trying to get him to go into a type of boot camp in NJ as high school graduation is an impossibility with the number of credits he has and his age.
Kudos to you to take on such a tough assignment and stick with it. Society could use thousands more like you!
