Lenny Dykstra plans to vigorously defend himself Wednesday when he answers charges in court that he ran an illegal rooming house out his Union County home.
The former Mets and Phillies star and World Series great blames one or two rogue neighbors for landing him in hot water and says demands from township housing inspectors have been unreasonable.
I dont know what they mean about nuisance, Dykstra said in a Feb. 8 interview with NJ Advance Media. I dont understand.
Linden City Councilwoman Gretchen Hickey has accused Dykstra of illegally renting out rooms in his house for $1,000 each a violation of municipal ordinances.
Housing inspectors showed up at the Stockton Circle home in September 2018 and wrote a summons. They were there again in December and wrote two more including one for allegedly continuing to rent in violation of the earlier summons.
When he appears in Linden Municipal Court on Wednesday, Dykstra said his defense will be that Lindens housing inspectors ordered him to remove tenants in 30 days or face additional fines something he says is against New Jersey law.
They asked me to do something that is illegal, he said. You cant get someone out in 30 days because of the laws. In an eviction, you have to give them 30 days notice (once they are ordered out by a judge), he said.
I told the judge and the prosecutor I have no problem doing what youre asking but how do I do it legally without breaking the law? he said. They (the renters) have rights.
Linden officials basically said, I want you to get a hit but you cant use a bat, he said.

This is no doubt in a multi-million $$$ neighborhood and regardless of the acreage, nobody wants to hear hip-hop blaring from speakers or partying after midnight.
So...this was the only way to make him stop.
Lindens housing inspectors ordered him to remove tenants in 30 days or face additional fines something he says is against New Jersey law.
Just File Formal Criminal Charges against the inspector for EXTORTION.
Threatening civil or criminal action for refusing to commit an Illegal Act is the very definition of FELONY EXTORTION
Dykstra was charged with making terroristic threats and drug offenses less than a year ago.
He did prison time a few years back.
Nails...got bent.
He was always a bad boy of baseball.
Dykstra was doing steroids before steroids was cool.
“Dykstra was doing steroids before steroids was cool.”
Sad, but true. And because Bonds has not been removed from the record books, steroid seem cool today. Of course, Dykstra and Bonds had their personal lives trashed by steroids. Bonds threatens to kill anyone who accuses him of steroid use.
>>Sad, but true. And because Bonds has not been removed from the record books, steroid seem cool today.
Speaking of which the top 3 Dems in Virginia outlived the phony outrage from the Left over blackface jokes and domestic abuse.
