"Captain Marvel" star and hardcore feminist Brie Larson has been a leader in Hollywood talks concerning the anti-sexual harassment and sexism campaign known as "Time's Up," which piggybacked off the #MeToo movement. Since fall 2017, Larson has led discussions about sound guys putting on actors' mics in the context of the movement and said she now mics herself up and advises all other actress to do the same.
"In the fall of 2017, in the weeks after the first Harvey Weinstein stories broke, Larson and her female acting peers began texting one another and having conversations about workplace concerns, from issues like pay equity to how to deal with the discomfort of a sound man reaching inside your bra to pin a microphone," reported The Hollywood Reporter in a glowing February interview.
"When it comes to pay, Larson seems to be doing OK she'll make $5 million for playing Captain Marvel in this film as part of a deal that bests what Robert Downey Jr. made for his first outing as Iron Man ($500,000) and Chadwick Boseman for his first as Black Panther ($2 million)," the piece continues.
"As for the microphone issue, she says she now mics herself in her trailer and advises her female friends on sets to do the same."

Mike Pence is being vindicated for his no private meetings with women stance.
...........................................
Billy Graham had that rule for himself his entire ministry. It worked well for him too.
Before the premier of Capt. Marval last week, there were tons of advertisement for the movie. This week, there is not a single add on the billboards. I don’t think that is a good sign for the movie...
Back in the early 2000s when Schwartzenegger ran for CA Governor, there were multiple examples of his piggishness, along with all the Industry people with whom he had worked. I remember one story from one of his films where a poster had been put up on a bulletin board that had various pictures of male AND female personal parts and there was a question underneath each picture that asked who is this?. None of the pics seemed to be coerced and no one was embarrassed back then. Hollywierd has always been a cesspool, at least since the 60s.......I dont know why anyone would be surprised at the filth filth the people there.
Too bad that its biggest star keeps tarnishing its luster by opening her mouth with SJW every opportunity she gets.
Things must be pretty good re: women’s issues if this is the level of complaint these days.
The first thing that came to my mind when I saw the title.
Famous?
Ronald Reagan is famous.
Audie Murphy is famous.
Babe Ruth, Tex Hill, Elvis, Einstein... all famous.
DJT will be famous.
Who the hell is this person???
Soundguys deserve alot of respect. Most people think you just plop a microphone anywhere and hit record.
A microphone just a half inch pointed at an angle changes hidef to hicrap.
Trusting actresses to have the intelligence to understand the nuances of recording film audio is a disaster.
They could train female interns to apply the mics properly taking the complicated decision making away from the hollywood harlots.
The porn crowd apparently doesn’t complainabout that problem m
But most of the time, a lavalier mic isn’t appropriate.
I may have put lavalier mic on a few guys lapels. There were dedicated audio people on staff. One was a woman.
When doing sound for a musical and you have a line of 17 people to wire, you do them one after the other with everyone watching. One issue is where to put the transmitter, men have pockets usually and women don’t, but clipping the transmitter to the rear bra strap usually works, but you do have to reach down the neck in the back to install it. Then you have to run the wires so they don’t show or restrict movement.
Letting the talent put their own mics on leads to dropped transmitters, broken wires, visible wires, directional lav mic pointing at their shoes, forgetting to turn the transmitter on.
Once in a while I’d get someone not comfortable with me wiring them up, if I detected that I’d have another cast member do it with me supervising.
It IS an invasion of privacy, the sound engineer must get under the costumes and clothes. Sometimes the transmitter is taped to the back of someone’s thigh, that’s pretty invasive. Most talent just cooperates and helps out, some feel invaded.
If ever I’m asked to wire Brie up, I would let her do it, with supervision, she’s obviously touchy about it.
That’s apparently where the mic goes. I saw a female commentator on a sports broadcast over the weekend. You got a peek at her bra through an opening in her blouse, and there was indeed a microphone pinned to it.
After seeing this photo..its obvious she doesnt want anyone to shift the artificial implants in her fresh boob job.
The ditzy ones are going to do that somehow anyway.
99% of film dialogue is ADR looped in later on in a studio anyway. Movie sets sound like construction sites. Mic people on set are mostly just union regulations.
“I don’t see why it has not always been that way. Sound guy hands actress the mic and tells her how to attach it.”
I’m guessing that the unions had something to do with it.
Theyre fake, Jim.
I hate it when I’m trying to mic Captain Marvel and those beams come shooting out of her so that’s good that she does it herself now.
The money for nerd movies is in week 1. And that’s the week the studios get the biggest cut. Both sides lose interest quickly.
