The ultimate dilemma: pie or pizza?
Pi Day is like our annual reward for all those school years spent learning math. Now to honor those educational (read: exhausting) algebra classes, we get to celebrate. And if our calculations are correct, there are *a lot* of pizza and pie specials slated for March 14. Here are all the stores and restaurants serving up cheap (and free!) slices Thursday.

Pi is wrong.
I didn’t know anything about this and just had Pizza night before last, calzone last night...
I make my own pizza dough, basically yeast dough with a little extra sugar, and it’s enough for 2 so I refrigerate half for the next night. good stuff..but I’ll have leftovers tonight so it’s all good...make my own pizza sauce too and freeze it in bags enough to make one pizza each...
Might make ravioli tomorrow, not sure yet, it’s a PITA but pretty good...
What happened to e day?
What date is 2.718?
And, of course, let's not forget St. Patrick's Day.

That's the 5th root of 100 AKA the difference in stellar brightness from one magnitude to the next.
Euler was a latecomer.
Also lacked a catchy name.
Interesting fact: some irrational numbers turn out to be integers...for example the number of people that think Socialism a good idea.
Pi are round and flakey.

There is very little that most post-elementary students find fun about learning math so I am ok with celebrating pi day. Teachers should also teach that pi is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter, an irrational number that can never be expressed exactly. Besides eating pie, they can measure various circular objects to determine an approximate value for pi.
Why only go part way?
Go with i, sqrt(-1)=i.
Pi is not square. Pi is round. Cornbread is square.
My favorite irrational letters are:
HRC
AOC
BETO
Pi aren’t squared! Pi are round, Cornbread are squared!
I was a math nerd back in the sliderule days. My kind memorized a chunk of pi just because it was there.
I am working on an a cappella composition titled “A Slice of Pi”; it uses the first fifty digits after the decimal:
3.14159265358979323846264338327950288419716939937510... (That is all I remember from my misspent youth.)
P.S.
My best friend was born on Pi Day.
My favorite nerd shirt:
Pi arguing with Square Root of Negative One:
“Get Real!”
“Be Rational!”
