If you actually read what Brie Larson said instead of a summary, you would know it was not so much SJW as just being proud of being a female lead in a superhero movie.
This is not Star Wars. The SJW nonsense was not injected here.
Rotten Tomoatoes and the other social media sites do not speak for the public who want to see the next addition to the Marvel Universe...especially after Avengers: Infinity War.
Marvel has not given into the SJW crowd. Captain America is fiercely individualistic and made 2 movies against big government. Avengers: Infinity War was about radical environmentalists who think the universe is overpopulated. Black Panther was about racists who become the haters.
I am sorry, but I think Marvel had done a great job so far and has been true to the premise of the comics....which were all about ordinary people with everyday problems who have gifts and need to rise to the occasion.
About a year ago, I started paying attention to what my press days looked like and the critics reviewing movies, and noticed it appeared to be overwhelmingly white male, Larson told Marie Claire interviewer Keah Brown
She appears to have an issue with white male reporters and sought to change that. Instead of being concerned about the quality of press coverage, she was more concerned about the spectral makeup of her entourage.
This entire movie was SJW nonsense - complete with Anti-Trump dogma where they accused the Kree of trying to build walls to keep out the immigrant Skrulls.
All the men were villains or made to look like goof balls (Fury) and all the women were super heroic and noble - including the token assassin who was better than all her male teammates.
There is an interesting mash-up on YouTube of Gal Gadot speaking about Wonder Woman and Brie Larsen speaking about Captain Marvel.
Gal Gadot was clearly thrilled to make a movie about values featuring a strong woman character. She was pretty pumped to be a good example for people.
Brie Larson came across as a bitter woman who didn't like white dudes. This mostly came across when she kept saying "I'm not saying I hate white dudes".
In general I agree.
But that said, this really smacks of Studio tomfoolery. Many, many pics of not just “half-filled” theaters but nearly empty theaters, of seat selection screens with the whole theater empty.
I suspect Marvel has built up the #s with overseas “sales” heavily leveraged by rebates and have forced American theaters to take this title at a high price if they want “Avengers.”
