Lovely song. Marshall Crenshaw and Dave Edmunds are among my favorite “Sunday Brunch by the Pool” musicians.

Relaxing but energizing at the same time.

Thanks!

Good stuff. This guy never made it as big as he deserved.

I have a playlist called "Power Pop" and this song is on it along with another couple hundred tracks.

The positive upbeat pop music of the past was always so refreshing. This pretty much came to a halt in the mid 1980s. Much of today's "pop" is angry rap or synthesized artificial crap that gives me a headache.

Give me a clean guitar sound, clever lyrics, some drums and a keyboard. Also, throw in some horns here and there.

Hear, hear! I've looked in vain for new artists carrying that flag - although a few from the heyday (e.g. Gin Blossoms) are still recording.

Didn’t he wear patent leather red cowboy boots? I seem to remember that for some reason.

He’s still around, I think, still playing.

He does a beautiful version of My Back Pages by Bob Dylan, the “ah but I was so much older then, I’m younger than that now” song.

Really hard to cover Dylan, IMO, but Marshall just plays it straight and brings out the sweetness in the poetry and melody, very respectfully. Highly recommended.

IIRC, Marshall Crenshaw started out in Beatles-imitator band back in the mid ‘80s.

He replaced the deceased singer in the “Fine young cannibals “ recently in a tribute concert
