Full Title: California desert is covered in spectacular wild flowers after heavy winter rain brings second 'once- in a decade' super bloom in just two years

After heavy winter rain closely followed by warm temperatures, California is in the midst of its second 'super bloom' in two years.

Seeds dormant for decades under the desert floor have burst open and produced a display even more spectacular than the last.

It started with the desert lilies in December and since then a wave of wildflower blooms has been crescendoing across the Anza-Borrego desert, in a burst of color so vivid it can be seen from mountain tops thousands of feet above.

The article concentrates on the High Desert, but here in SoCal the hills are covered with golden poppies and wild purple verbena.

Just south of the city of Riverside, near Corona, there are maybe in the range of a hundred cars pulled off the freeway with the people wandering up and down fields of poppies and other wildflowers. Selfies and family photos being clicked everywhere. Quite the sight! From the ranch, we can see poppies in every direction spilling down the hills. I guess I should be enjoying it, but after weedwacking for a week now, all I can think about is 'firefuel'. The flowers are pretty, tho.

Stuff grows like mad in California, once it gets some water, as California has, maybe, the most fertile soil in the world.

...and that’s why the Left is diverting most of it.

here’s a taste of what I see from our mountain top (20 photos). Not as pretty as the high desert but spectacular in the whole:

Grew up in Palmdale - ‘62-’75. Saw all that beauty so many times! Now the miles and miles of desert behind my house is homes and strip malls.

The High Desert was in Full Bloom about 7-10 years ago, the same year it Snowed in Havasu,Bullhead City and Laughlin. I fly over it all the time.

It's not real. That image has been totally manipulated.☺

However, after rainy/snowy winters the deserts of the southwest are beautiful.
