I stopped following this franchise a while ago, but I thought the basic story arc was supposed to end with the next Avengers movie. I don’t know which heroes will end up permanently dead, but I think several of the actors want to move on to other roles.
I think it would be hard to find a “new Iron Man” or a “new Thor” or Black Widow or Captain America. If the actor has had enough, I don’t know if Marvel will keep pushing the character.
While I don’t see Captain Marvel having a bright future, I do think that future films will need to feature new faces. Just not Brie Larson. So I don’t really understand the notion that existing actors feel that they are being “pushed aside”. That seems pretty inherent to the plan.
But perhaps this is internal politics as people try to explain the debacle that is Captain Marvel.
The filmmakers are implying that the SJW activism messaging of Captain Marvel is what they intend to carry forward into the next generation of Marvel movies. Get woke, go broke will put an end to the franchise pretty quickly once they roll that out.
And lest you think Disney won't make such a stupid business decision for such a huge tent pole franchise, I give you Exhibit A: Star Wars.
“So I dont really understand the notion that existing actors feel that they are being pushed aside.”
Well, especially considering that the woman complaining was cast as a relatively minor character herself, so she never would be getting her own solo movie or anything like that.
Scarlet Witch was never a top tier character, and never really had her own solo comic book either. I think the best she ever did was being like second-in-command of the “West Coast Avengers”, which is like being the assistant coach of the triple-A team. Then in the movies, they killed off her brother in the first movie they appeared in, and killed off her husband in the last movie, so she doesn’t even have any supporting characters that might have helped build some story about her.
