DISCLAIMER: I'm a newb...please forgive any etiquette oversights.
These next few days are a fortunate time to look at the real-time hatch and growth of wild Bald Eagles. Time frame to fledge is only 5 months! The kids grow up so fast... Now check this out...the nest is located near a fish spawning-hatchery so you can very often see live fish brought to the nest (by the parents of course) to feed the young. Awesome stuff for school age children's report projects. >>The nest is huge...over 1000 lbs!

I hit one with my Ford Expedition the summer before last.
died with in a few day so I am sure they didn’t get into any turbines,not sure what power lines has to do with anything ?

If it was my cat vs one of the adult/parent eagles, all my money would be against the cat.
Actually, he was just sitting on my lap a couple times I was watching the NestCams, and the cat got up on to the desktop to swat at the eagle on the screen, sitting in the nest.
We live “inland” but have a small dam site lake near our home. There have often been eagles along the Missouri River here, and less along the Platte, but never had seen any in our suburban style neighborhood area.
Until October of 2016. I remember driving home from work one night (and then several other, later instances), and I was very stressed about the likelihood of HRC being elected, and losing confidence in my ability to deal with that outcome... then a bald eagle was circling fairly low, right over the road, on my drive home. And suddenly I felt a weight lifted, as if that was a sign that things were going to be okay.
Call me weird or whatever.. but had never seen any there before and rarely since.
I see them around our house occasionally. We are north of Coeur d’Alene by a lake. We had a nesting pair last spring (or maybe Osprey) and they made a horrendous racket starting about 3:45 am at late June.

I’ve watched the Berry cam for a few years and was concerned about the eaglets’ survival this year. One, because of Ma Berry’s bum leg and Two, because of the weather at the time of hatch.
Ma stepped on both eaglets and Pa did at least once. They lost one eaglet at Dale Hollow last year due to the same thing.
But even if they hadn’t been stepped on, the nest was saturated from all the rain we had in this area that week. It was also quite cold when they hatched. Not a good combination.
I’m still heart-broken over the loss but there are many more eagle nests that I watch that will make up for it. The two Decorah nests are on the list. I watch nest cams from FL up to MN, east coast to west coast, and at night I watch several in Europe. There are occasional sad moments but overall, it’s wonderful observing nature.
I wish I knew where the eagles around here have their nests. They fly over the farm but I have no clue where any nests are.
These eagles in Decorah, Iowa should be about ready to hatch, if not already. I haven’t looked at them yet, was offline last week.
