SELMA, Ala. Speaking Sunday at the historic Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church, former Secretary of State, First Lady, and 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton suggested a key Supreme Court decision may have cost her the White House.(snip)
I was the first person who ran for president without the protection of the Voting Rights Act and I will tell you, it makes a really big difference, Clinton said.
Clinton prefaced her comments by discussing the history of the Voting Rights Act, which was passed in 1965. The law required federal oversight of voting in nine southern states and an array of other jurisdictions that were found to have engaged in discriminatory practices. Clinton noted the law was reauthorized by Congress in 2006 while she was in the Senate.
It was based on thousands and thousands of pages of testimony as to why we ... needed the Voting Rights Act. I thought it was a done deal, passed out of the Congress, signed by a Republican president, and then it found its way to the Supreme Court, Clinton recounted.
Clinton said Republicans who wanted to pull back rights were behind the legal challenge that brought the 2013 Supreme Court decision, in which conservative justices struck down the core of the law.
They found a receptive Supreme Court who came up with the most absurd decision, said Clinton, adding, They gutted the Voting Rights Act.(snip)
It doesnt just make a difference in Alabama and Georgia. It made a difference in Wisconsin where the best studies that have been done said somewhere between 40,000 and 80,00 thousand people were turned away from the polls because of the color of their skin, because of their age, because of whatever excuse could be made up to stop a fellow American citizen from voting, Clinton said.

I didn’t realize Wisconsin was a Southern state. I thought Wisconsin produced cheese, not crackers.
But, of course, Hillary has no clue what happened in Wisconsin because she never visited there during her campaign which might have just a teensy weensy bit more to do with why she lost there than some outdated law affecting Southern states.
Didn't Podesta say she smelled like cabbage flatulence and cat urine?!
Shes got a lot of nerve making excuses for Wisconsin, did she really go there? Because I know she didnt GO there...
She blame everyone but herself.
Truth is she was/is a crappy, smelly, ugly old lady with a bad temper, thick ankles and crazy ideas.
But there has to be some other reason she lost, right?
Just go away.
We all have made mistakes or done the wrong thing in our lives. Some never learn.
Serial liar profile.
Of course she does. If that had truly happened, we would have been hearing about it every day for the past twenty-eight months.
it’s interesting she’s still able to come up with new excuses as to why she lost ... i thought she had used ‘em all up long ago ... oh, wait! ... there’s still one remaining: she was THE worst candidate in the history of the Democrat party; a shrill, unlikable, unempathetic, untrustworthy, conniving, grasping, lying criminal who blamed everyone and everything for her own failures and inadequacies ...
>The law required federal oversight of voting in nine southern states and an array of other jurisdictions that were found to have engaged in discriminatory practices.<
The “Voting Rights Act” singled out nine southern states and required them to actively prove that they were not discriminating against minority voters. Our Constitution guarantees that our justice system 1) will not treat people in different states differently under the law, and 2) will not assume that anyone has committed a crime without probable cause. The Supreme court reinstated these principles in banning the VRA.
Hillary singled out Wisconsin as an example of changes to a state voting process brought about by the Supremes banning the VRA. I’m pretty sure that Wisconsin is not a southern state, and was not subject to restraints of the Voting Rights Act, so should not have been able to experience the changes which Hillary alleges.
Ok so well add “gutting the voting rights act” to the list. She’ll have to add a chapter or two to her book with this revelation.
Blames anything but herself...
The sign on her podium said “Lift Our Vote”. Sounds like a campaign slogan to me.
So, does this mean The Russia collided with Trump to steal the election talking point is done, or are they taking a break from that.
She fixed the election so she won over Bernie Sanders and she is complaining?
She is coming out with another book? What Happened, Now That I've Had More Time to Stew On It...
Thats not the way our democracy works. Weve been around 240 years. Weve had free and fair elections and weve accepted the outcomes when we may not have liked them and that is what must be expected of anyone standing on a debate stage during a general election. President Obama said the other day that when youre whining before the game is even finished it just shows youre not even up to doing the job.
She added, And lets be clear about what hes saying and what he means. Hes denigratinghes talking down our democracy. I for one am appalled that somebody who is the nominee of one of our major two parties would take that kind of position. Hillary Clinton
Never forget!
The rash that just won’t go away.
John King— commentator said on a show— “The Russians “cloaked the State of Minnesota” so Hillary couldn’t see it and go there to campaign”!!
This woman is a touring Delusion, of her self and directing her delusion on what has to be truly STUPID people. The “Selma March” Memorial needs to have footage— cause she cannot walk that distance over the Pettus Bridge— but she is still
“Ah ain’t no-ways taaahrd”... fake accent, fake black concerns and most notably— successful black women AREN”T buying her black “plantation” line of BS. Diamond and Silk point this out in re: Trump— many black females deserted hitlery and her “housemaid domestic” approach to blacks in general but black women in specifics.
Not buying it then- or now apparently.
She’s so full of crap.
She/they cannot have the truth in the history books: She lost a fair fight to Donald Trump. It would be too clear what people outside of the Left Coast thought of her, and more importantly, what they thought of OBAMA. The images of both of these dirtbags is being preserved for posterity with non-stop BS about “Russian interference” and such because they don’t want people in 100 years to know how bad the years from 2008 through 2016 were for much of this country.
Stop already! You lost. Move on with your pathetic life.
