Heres an alarming but little-known figurestray cats and pet cats allowed outdoors kill 3.6 million birds every day on average in the United States, for a total of at least 1.3 billion birds per year. Thats most likely a sizable chunk out of the U.S. land-bird population, which the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center estimates is around 10-20 billion....[snip]
But some cat lovers are also bird lovers. Two of them, a birdwatcher named Nancy Brennan and a bird biologist named Susan Willson, have developed what they believe is a solution...

There's a major difference between barn cats on farms and suburban house cats allowed to roam the neighborhoods free........
Seems like the Kill all Pitbulls and variants that gather here have found a new fake crisis to post
First degree BS
I have a permanent solution. Cat loves hate me for it.
Ohhh I know. I have killed many a HOSP. Birds from hell.
Every day? I’m thinking their research is flawed, as in global warming flawed.
The cats never seem to catch the damned house sparrows! Always warblers. The hiuse sparrows have killed many of my bluebirds and tree swallowss.
Need more coyotes.
No shortage of invasive species birds you mean! Undocumented birds are running our native birds like purple martins, bluebirds and woodpeckers out of our neighborhoods.
I’m worried about babies, but also birds. Not the same of course, but our native birds need help.
Are you serious? You ruined my Sams Club favorite.
Cats roam outside naturally.
My cats go outside. I do not use it as an excuse. They go outside.
They would be outside IF THERE WERE NO MICE.
My cats roam as they please.
My girls are indoors kitties. Life of luxury.. but a little angst chirping at the birds through the picture window.

So do dogs, pigs, cattle, chickens, hamsters and children if you let them........
So what's your point?
Just curious, why are dogs required to have licenses and not allowed to roam free but yet cats who are the alleged criminals in the demise of song birds and free from all that burden?
Why should your cat be allowed to roam the neighborhood outside without a license while your neighbor's dog can't?
Don't be silly, your cats roam as YOU please.........
You're the one who opens the door, not them.
I dont buy these numbers
Most folks keep cats inside scared to let them out
Especially women with fancy cats like Abyssinians or Tonkins
Not me
I let my lads go out to kill
Course they do get in scrapes and often die
Bobcats where I live are biggest threat
I hope you dont live near me...if your cat got into my yard, my dogs would have a new chew toy.
Its instinct. 100% natural for cats to do. Its not murder. Tigers eat their prey. Its the order of nature.
