Every good movie deserves a sequel. Or at least a prequel.
I just got off the phone with Bill Martinez, telling him there would soon be another Jussie story. And here it is. When the home of Nikki Joly burned down in 2017, killing five pets, the FBI investigated it as a hate crime.
After all, the transgender man and gay rights activist had received threats after having a banner year in this conservative town.
In the prior six months, he helped open the citys first gay community center, organized the first gay festival and, after 18 years of failed attempts, helped lead a bruising battle for an ordinance that prohibits discrimination against gays.
For his efforts, a local paper named him the Citizen of the Year.
Authorities later determined the fire was intentionally set, but the person they arrested came as a shock to both supporters and opponents of the gay rights movement. It was the citizen of the year Nikki Joly.

“Authorities later determined the fire was intentionally set...”
How do they do that?
Use of an accelerant?
Wouldn’t that be the way an arsonist would do it, too?
Caught him on a camera?
Even without the arson and fake hate crimes, it’s pure mental illness on display.
“Jussie rhymes with Pussie”
Does it rhyme with a word meaning full of puss or a word meaning a small cat.
Jackson hasn’t been conservative since the 60’s...lol
It’s far worse now that they elected the queer Mare.
Killing his dogs in a fire is an awesome betrayal of trust.A jury will hang him out to dry.
Could be both... a pink hat will make the definition more clear. :)
Not even in the 60s. I remember the UAW picket line at Hayes Automotive.
Sporadically “conservative” during Eisenhower (I-94).
“Caught him on a camera?”
Yup, caught her on camera filling a gas can at the local gas station, and her cloths reeked of gas when she was interviewed the day of the fire.
I worked there then when they had the 5 month strike. Except it wasn’t UAW back then, it was AIW, “Allied Industrial Workers.”
Ugh. how’s it that THAT is not considered an insane male???
Thanks for the memory jog, AIW.
Ad 20 years later, we were loading my pickup with the demo bricks to pave my mom’s back sidewalk.
Yup, before that strike Kelsey-Hayes had 4 plants and almost 3,000 employees. A couple years after they were down to a few hundred.
If you add up all the employees in the well paying factories that were in and around Jackson it is far more than the entire population of the city!
Bornagirl. Start there.
Transjester
Thanks.
Sad about the 5 dogs...
You’re right. This pervert should get 20 years, and when he gets out, lifetime community service duty, cleaning dog poop off the sidewalks.
These are some sick *^%$#@s.
{{{sigh}}}
All the hippies who came here in the 60s have ruined many parts of the state; hence the Bernie and Christine supporters in the more *citified* towns like Burlington; thank goodness I can stay away from there.
