Same with Bobby Darin grew up thinking grandma was his mom and his sis was his aunt.

Hitchcock is the greatest movie director but his movies were ahead of their time. He made the complicated look easy.

He didn't get nominated for North by Northwest and he was more deserving than 3 other directors that year. He didn't get nominate for Notorious, again more deserving than most of the other nominees that years. Vertigo is finally considered one of the greatest movies while people now hold their nose at the underage courtesan grooming of Gigi. Personally I'm not that PC over Gigi and I like the movie, but Vertigo is the better film

He should have gotten it for Psycho over the unwatchable The Apartment.

I also love Marnie which is considered a failure but this writer in The New Yorker praises it in a very wordy essay.

Michael Keaton didn't win the Oscar for BirdMan. He lost to Eddie Redmayne for the The Theory of Everything.

I made your comments almost word-for-word to my spouse after watching that movie.

I’ve known a few abusive drunks, and he played that role to a t.

(It’s also downright shameful that his brother was never even once nominated for his masterful portrayal of Cousin Eddie.)😉

That’s sad. And Hollyweird has a nasty habit of casting people aside when there is no more money to be made off them.

There’s an interesting short video over at Imdb that states Kurt Russell actually directed most of the film. It goes on to say that in order to direct and act he eliminated at least four pages of Wyatt’s dialog. It also implies there may be enough deleted scenes for a director’s cut. That would be worth the admission!

“Rear Window” was a great movie that takes place in ONE room.

“The Birds” was way ahead of its time for special effects.

The best scene in “Psycho” is the view of the chocolate syrup he used for blood circling the drain hole.

It is true, Kurt Russell did indeed direct Tombstone. Hopefully this film receives a 4K digital restoration.

The two on that list who BOWL ME OVER unforgettably with their acting are John Malkovich and Paul Giamotti.

There are a ton of actor winners who should just give their statues up to those dudes now.

I will start the list Meryl Streep. I am amazed there is any scenery left without bite marks after every scene she is in. ========= Absolutely right! Plus she basically held Weinstein’s 🐔for every rape. She had the money and power to stop him but chose not to, chose to call him a god instead. Sterile Creep is an A List hypocrite.

Agree about Murray.

Also, speaking of Oscars, who has ever dealt with an Oscar’s predictions segment better than he?

No one plays creepy quite like Willem Dafoe.

Even chatting with a talk host on the red carpet, I was afraid he was going to kill someone.

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a more Oscar-worthy performance than Sam Rockwell in “Moon.”

But, I don’t think he was even nominated.

Branagh was chilling as Heydrich in “Conspiracy”.

He really was. Affable but utterly ruthless with a core of steel. A masterpiece of acting.

I saw the original German version that came out in 1984, the German actor that played him was real good, too.

Both are excellent movies, a little different focus in “Conspiracy”, than in the German one.
