My dad gave everyone a nickname. He too said it saved time. I grew up with nicknames for all of our friends and family. Never thought anything about it until Donald Trump stepped on the scene. I totally relate to nicknames.

My moms family all went by their nicknames. Didn’t know some of their given names until I was an adult. Thelma was Dutch. Olive was Jonny ; Harry Jr /Fats; Mom was Willy. Etc They were a very loving, hugging family who truly cared about each other.
