A Michigan court on Thursday heard the devastating 911 call made moments after a father-of-four was fatally struck by a rock which was dropped from an overpass and crashed through his windshield.
Kenneth White was driving south along the the Interstate 75 with friend Stephen Anthor on October 18, 2017 when their van was struck by a rock thrown from the Dodge Road overpass by five teenagers.
Attendees in Flint on Thursday listened to the 15 –minute recording between Anthor and the dispatcher as they tried to locate the gravely injured victim.
Sitting in court, defendants Mark Sekelsky, 17, and Alexzander Miller, 16, heard the recording where Anthor yells into the phone: 'I got a guy bleeding out. I got a busted windshield and my buddy's heads about gone.

We used to do that with little crab apples - half inch to an inch in diameter. Yeah - folks would get out and chase us through the back yards.
That probably ended in about 7th grade I suppose. Looking back, I’m glad nobody had a heart attack, or crashed their car, or had shot us.
Odd thing - I grew up where there was a lot of snow, but only once threw snowballs at cars. We were in high school and playing street hockey. A car full of girls that we knew comes down the road. We scattered to the side and made snowballs.
The driver put on the gas to get through our gauntlet, missed the turn at the “T” intersection, launched off of the pile of snow along the edge of the road ended up on the neighbors lawn between a big tree and the sidewalk lamp post.
Just like in the movies with the jump and a spray of snow. About a milli-second of “cool!”, then we all ran to see if they were okay. Scared to death, but okay. Then we had to shovel and push them off the neighbor’s lawn before anybody saw us!
I knew a guy who, when he was 11-13, did what they called yellow striping with his buddies from overpasses.
When we were kids we blew off firecrackers at the police station door so they would chase us. That they did. Never caught us. Good practice for E&E training when I joined the army. Yeah, kids do stupid things, but this overpass thing never crossed out minds.

Seem to recall that one and yes have noticed the courts are being more harsh. Don’t remember how old the kids were in that case but here at least one was 18 and the other 17 that is way old enough to know better.
What was that 18 year old thinking?
When I was a kid the thing to do was drop water bombs (balloons) down on people. Not on cars but you get the idea. Like you said dropping 10 inch rocks on cars never occurred to us.
We have all mostly seen sci fi movies of some kind of prison where the incarcerated is in suspended animation, being mentally reconditioned. Sure thats a humane thought..
But sometimes a culling needs to be done.
My friend and I were so dumb when we were 13. We’d tie a black cloth resembling an animal to fishing string and when cars would come down the road, pull it and watch the drivers swerve to avoid hitting an animal Boy, kids can be pretty stupid, we weren’t thinking about the consequences about anyone getting hurt, we were just thrilled watching the cars skid and almost crash, we were dumb, dumb, dumb!!
Yes, we would sometimes use small pears from a local tree. I watched a car spin out in the street after being hit by a snowball; terrifying (no collision or injuries, thank God).
When I think about running through peoples’ yards to get away, I realize that today those residents would be much more alarmed to hear that. Motion-sensor lights had just started to appear when we were growing up; probably makes that much more difficult (if not impossible) today. They seem to be everywhere, often startling you as you simply walk past on the sidewalk...
I’ve seen news stories where people were killed as thrown/dropped items passed through their windshields - in one case it was a bowling ball. What we have here in neighboring Newark NJ is tight fencing (small holes instead of the larger standard ones) on overpasses, and they arc backwards towards the sidewalk above, making it much more difficult for ferals to mess with the productive people going about their business.
Could we give it up with the “teens” euphemism?

That is too funny; you must be a bit younger than me (I’m nearing 50) because when I was younger the drivers wouldn’t want to hit a small animal but they wouldn’t do anything dangerous to miss one either.
Probably the closest we came to causing a crash was when one of the gang threw a snowball at a cab that happened to have the window rolled down a bit; hit the driver right on the left side of his face, and he lockup up the brakes on the icy road. Really really stupid; if we weren’t so young the snowball would’ve been much more forceful - we were very lucky.
Although I imagine that peer pressure and/or group mentality has a lot to do with the stupid things we did as kids.
We knew the whole time why we did it; we were bored out of our minds. We didn’t want to hurt anybody or damage their property (which is why we didn’t throw rocks); we just wanted either the target or the police to chase us (and sometimes both would).
We didn’t have “midnight basketball”...

I threw soft snow balls at cars of friends, but never any rocks.
We use to get Cattle corn from a farmers field and on Mischief Night we would throw corn kernels at cars. We also would go up to town and soap windows. One time we soaped the widows of the Chief of Police’s car parked in front of a local pub. Just once a year though. Lol
Yes, rocks and even iceballs were a bit much. A friend once threw an “ice cream ball” at a car (he’d bought a small container and didn’t like it); the impact was so loud - he had no idea how much heavier ice cream is than snow...
One winter we dragged the discarded Christmas trees into the street to build a barricade.
When drivers got out to clear a path we pelted them with snowballs.
(Never rocks though)
