I recall reading some psychology article about kids doing stuff. When asked “Why did you do that?” and they answer “I don't know” - they really don't know! They didn't think about it beforehand, and perhaps don't even realize the full reality of it afterwards.

Although I imagine that peer pressure and/or group mentality has a lot to do with the stupid things we did as kids.

We knew the whole time why we did it; we were bored out of our minds. We didn’t want to hurt anybody or damage their property (which is why we didn’t throw rocks); we just wanted either the target or the police to chase us (and sometimes both would).

We didn’t have “midnight basketball”...
