Last night, the dam of media protection for Empire actor Jussie Smollett finally broke, as major news outlets suddenly decided it was safe to report that police strongly believe, backed by evidence, that his story of being a victim of a Trump-motivated hate crime is false.
While his high-priced lawyers are still desperately playing the victim card, it appears that Smollett paid the two Nigerian brothers who attacked him (and whom he clearly knows) in a conspiracy to create a hoax.
This is a fraud in which the mainstream news media might as well have been an unindicted co-conspirator. They, along with kindred spirits within the top ranks of the Democratic party, instantly went all in on supporting Smolletts always implausible claim, subjecting it to basically zero scrutiny.
Since Smollett is black, gay, very anti-Trump, a celebrity, and, at least at that time, a hate-crime victim, whatever ability liberals may have had to see through his inherently absurd story was immediately stripped away. Those qualities, creating what I refer to as Smolletts Political Correctness Force Field, acted like Kryptonite on the power of liberals to see what was always very obvious to us who are not blinded by the biography of the person making an allegation.

Even Trump jumped the gun on this one, when he could have covered himself simply by saying, “If this is true, and I am waiting until all the facts are in before I conclude that it is, ... .”
I can see it now.
Jussie and Jared in a cell sharing a footlong.
Yeh right...they opened it instead of giving it UNOPENED to police.
The MSM will go "all OJ," taint the jury pool, and plead for jury nullification for Smollett.

Some people laugh about the Smollett hoax.
I am angry. To make this horrific accusation about white Trump supporters as a whole is criminal. I think back to history where innocent black people were accused of crimes and paid the ultimate price. So profoundly unjust and evil. May we never repeat that history.
I would look to black Americans to take the moral high ground as to be so viscerally opposed to false accusations of crime, not stage them.
History is being repeated with a different group now. Everyday there are hate crimes committed against white people.
That what we should be hammering - when did Kamala suggest this stunt to Jussie and was did any form of future compensation (future job opportunities in a Harris administration?) promised?
This "hoax' was an attack on traditional Americans, President Trump, white men and Trump supporters. It's wasn't "just" a pity party for a jerk. It was an attack on half the people who live in this country.
LOL...Stop it...just blew coffee out my nose.
Trump should contact Jussie immediately, and thank him for his support.
As Smollett Story Unravels, ABC Defends Robin Roberts' Softball Interview on GMA
By Kristine Marsh, newsbusters.org | February 18, 2019
ABCs Good Morning America team went into full damage control mode Monday, after news broke over the weekend that actor Jussie Smollett had allegedly paid two men to stage his assault. Just last Thursday, anchor Robin Roberts had given the actor a softball interview, even refusing to call his story of a Trump supporter assaulting him, alleged. Leading into the report, Roberts finally did call the quickly unraveling story alleged:
"A new twist in the Jussie Smollett case. The actor firing back this morning as the story of his alleged attack faces questions. Police in Chicago say they're working to corroborate allegations that Smollett paid two men to stage the assault," she stated. In reporter Eva Pilgrims report, she tried to save face for ABC, stressing that police had said Smollett was cooperating fully with the investigation up until this point. Pilgrim did not mention that the Chicago Police Department also said Smollett would only give partial, redacted phone records to them.
Roberts followed up by defending her interview with the actor, as appropriate given the knowledge they had at the time: This case is ever evolving. Head-spinning. Changing. When I sat down with Jussie, it was Tuesday night in Chicago. At the time to give his first account publicly give his first account of what he said happened. And we have to remember, at that time, on Tuesday, police officers were saying that his account was consistent. It was credible. And that he was being cooperative. This was all before the interview aired on Thursday and then we found out about the brothers. Afterwards, the ABC team brought on the networks legal analyst, Dan Abrams, to help do more damage control, spinning Roberts interview as more even-handed than it was by hyping the few times she had gingerly brought up skeptics of his story:
[I] have to say, Robin, even in the interview you did, you were talking about the skeptics. You were talking about the people who questioned his account. So, it's not new this idea that there are questions about what happened. What's new is that the police now seem to be making it clear that they believe the brothers and have, at the very least, serious questions about Jussie.
To end their segment, ABC hammered home how they werent responsible for how much airtime his problematic story got to begin with. GMAsweekend anchor Dan Harris worried that just Smollett, not their network or the media as a whole, had caused damage for actual victims of hate crimes. Dan Abrams agreed, even admitting that the media wanted to believe Smolletts account.
Again, the ABC team wouldnt acknowledge the medias role in spreading his dubious account:
DAN HARRIS: If Smollett made this up, what kind of impact does this have on other people that come forward to tell stories that are true about assault?
ABRAMS: I think that is the real impact here. I think this would have a big impact on the country. Which is, you want to believe someone. I mean, you're talking about an allegation of homophobia, racism, politics, all of it in one allegation. If it turns out that this well-known person just made this up, it's going to, I think, lead some people to have questions about coming forward. It will lead others having questions about whether they believe people's accounts. This is having a much bigger impact I think.....
"Yes. It is a very interesting turn in this case. I know people who talked to Jussie over the weekend. He insists that he had nothing to do the story. The more you hear, the more questions that are being raised. The investigation we should stress is still underway," she gushed.

Brian Stelter of CNN fame was gleefully reporting that “no one” really jumped to any conclusions about this case and he was happy how everyone “waited for the facts.”
It wasn't 'just' a hoax Liz - it was an attack on traditional Americans, white people, President Trump AND his supporters. The little black dude is a jerk... a hater - a bigot. And the press that kisses is butt? They're bigots and haters too.
The sort of justice that needs to be done is only for un-PC persons. Leftists have “reasons” for all the crap they pull so they will not be prosecuted. That is illustrated definitively in DC. None of the Democrats who were engaged in real felonies that are prima facie Treasonous as will as simply utterly corrupt can be prosecuted because Republicans accept the premise that Democrats cannot be prosecuted except at lower levels and by other Democrats.
The real racists are the left they will fake it at any time and use it as a tool for votes.
That makes a lot of sense. The chain is pretty solid.
The race hustlers were fervently praying that it was true. Boy Brian isnt happy.
“before anybody gets a whiff of her utter stupidity”
Too late for that.
