Many people read my article The Ultimate Guide to Selling on Etsy and mistakenly think that Etsy may just be the answer to the tugging on their entrepreneurial spirit. After all, it has all these things going for it:

It’s super simple to set up
You don’t need to have a techie bone in your body to get an Etsy shop running
Products remove the risk of putting yourself out there and offering a service
You only need a prototype at first
Etsy has built in traffic and fans
It’s relatively cheap to get up and running.

But with all of those great things going for it, there are limiting factors as well. After you’ve started your Etsy shop, and begun to make sales on it, and maybe even grown it past $1,000/month, these limitations may begin to weigh on you.

But don’t worry. I won’t leave you hanging. I’ll tell you how to fix them so you can sell on Etsy successfully… while also giving yourself the freedom and flexibility you crave from your 9-5 (or even just more creative license!).

I often consider listing my finds on Etsy, as I love vintage items. However, I have never gone forward with my ideas. Thanks for giving me some advice. I’m sure to learn lots of info.

I bought a few things that the family business had given away when it existed. Match panel trucks and match books and key chains with the company name on them. Company was in Minnesota. Some items I bought were shipped from Colorado.

I have a very definite idea on what to create and sell on Etsy. It involves making pins, necklaces, wristbands and possibly costume rings.

And involves riding my bicycle and photography which I really enjoy.

Making coin rings would be cool but I think one really needs a garage for that. I floated the idea about using one of our two bathrooms but my wife shot that down real quick.

My goal is simply to have fun and if I make 100 or 200 euros a month then that’s good for me.

Will share more here (bookmarked) when up and running. Anyone, in an urban area could do it. Or something similar.

simple rings with stones without holes - wire wrap jewelry making 11
https://youtu.be/HdrfN_eGdNM

I made a ring today. I call it Binz jailhouse seaglass wire ring. I followed the video except I wrapped around the seaglass differently. It was unstable so I had the idea to use polymer clay to make it solid.

What I learned is that you really need a rod the right size to wrap the wire around. I tried using my finger at wasted wire. Then With a cut string i found a toy light wand that was the right size. Also when they say use 20 gauge wire then use 20 gauge wire. My 24 gauge wire was difficult to twist, bend and wrap.

I am very pleased with the result. It’s a solid thing. It’s personally found on the beach at Binz. Seaglass is the lip part of a small brown bottle that must have been in the surf at least 10 years, possibly 20. I am not selling it.
