There should be a special penalty for faking a Crime such as this.
Actions such as this destroy the very trust necessary for a civilization to function.
faking a crime, making a false report, lying to the police or in court, withholding evidence, including by cops, DAs and judges, should have 1 penalty. You do the sentence the accused would have done if convicted up to an including the death penalty.
In my view, faking a hate crime IS a hate crime because it is intended to generate hate towards the presumed perpetrators of the fake crime, in this case, Trump supporters.
They also waste police time and moneyand resources and waste the courts time, and play them for imbeciles.
They sow discord between peoples hoping to make groups hate each other more.
They destroy trust in the system and tbe process because the system bends over backwards for fake victims staging their own fake crimes.
