A career change probably wouldve been in store for Ray Romanos Everybody Loves Raymond character if the show was set today, the actor said.
Romano who played Ray Barone, a sportswriter in New York, on the popular sitcom doesnt think its likely his character would have remained a writer in the current media climate.
I think I would've quit already, Romano told the Daily News while promoting his new movie Paddleton. I think Ray Barone would've started a podcast or something.
He continued, I don't know. He was kind of not hard-hitting enough. Everybody Loves Raymond aired for nine seasons from 1996 to 2005 and centered on the title characters life on Long Island and his comical interactions with his eccentric family. The long-running CBS series also starred Patricia Heaton, Doris Roberts, Peter Boyle and Brad Garrett.

Ever listen to any of his stand up comedy routines?
He’s a hoot and anti-PC.
He couldn’t even be a comedian today.
On a scale of 1 to 10 for a big mouth, Jackie Gleason was a 10. Ray Romano, barely a 6. That guy who played his brother on the show was an 8.
Didn’t like him then either.
I never watched the show when it was on but now I love the late night reruns. Glad I didn’t go in for the sitcoms years ago as it gives me something to watch now when TV is so lousy otherwise! Great acting by everyone involved. Same with “King of Queens” - all new to me..
Love the Everybody loves Raymond TV show. My ninety-year-old father has the the box set of all seasons. My wife won’t admit it, but I know she thinks the character Marie reminds her (not in a good way) of my recently departed Italian mother. Opinionated! But rock solid conservative.
Romano and Scott Bakula stared in an absolutely great show on TNT 2010-2011 which just killed me when it was cancelled. It was called “Men of a Certain Age” check it out if you can find it.
I loved the one where his wife, Deborah, was having her “lady’s day” and there was absolutely nothing he could say or do that wouldn’t send her into a frenzy.
I love those two as well. Relatively clean, although King of Queens sometimes pushes the envelope. But no dirty words that I can recall. Just innuendo. But the other shows that TV Land advertises, 2 and a half Men, Teachers, and a new one that’s totally obnoxious about a homesexual being turned on by an altar boy and describing it in a disgusting way are too dirty for my taste.
“love Deborahs parents and Amys family, too. Just a really funny show”
OMG Amy’s brother played by Chris Elliot, what a hoot ( Something about Mary) And the ultra religious parents. The epi where Robert sneaks outside for a cigarette at 2:00 AM and finds Amy’s Mom dragging on a on one as well is crazy.
Ray Romano went from ‘Everybody Loves Raymond to killer in his new show.

You know it.
Who told you to say that and why did you believe them?
LOL! You are so right! Oscar Madison on ESPN comedy gold.
Bewitched and I Dream of Jeanie. F’ing hilarious. And Samantha and Jeanie were smoking hot.
