Not long ago, I wrote about the most overrated hits songs of all time. I love compiling lists like those because they allow me to get in touch with my snarky side as well as rant a little. In that post four months ago, I mused about doing a list of overrated artists. Well, the time has come.
Here are the ten most overrated musical artists of all time. Don’t get me wrong: I like some of the music by some of these artists, and though there are only a few bands and solo performers I completely despise, you’ll find that I don’t hold back on how little I care for many of the folks on this list.
Believe me, I’m aware that I’m going to ruffle some feathers with this list. I’m fine with that, because taste in music is always subjective. But as you read the list, keep an open mind and see if you agree with me. And even if you don’t, just have fun reading it

Journey is a very sucky overrated band with a whiny lead singer
CCR is literally the worst iteration of white boy blues/rock ever.
I agree with the author re Springsteen, the Doors, Green Day, and especially Nirvana.
I would add Janis Joplin to the list.
The Stones and the Doors? This obviously was written by some milennial who was running short of fapping material...
If you doubt me, go on YouTube and watch any of the interviews with Ray Manzarek, keyboard player for the Doors. Fantastic gent...sadly missed.

Some I have heard of but never listed to. Some I haven’t heard of. Of those left, IMHO they have earned their place. Don’t care of Springsteen. I like CCR. That’s what “overrated” or “underrated” means anyway — I don’t like or I like.

No, but who cares? The stretch from Beggars Banquet to Exile is so incredible, so sublime, its beyond description. How old is this guy?
Hell yeah. When she came out, everyone made a huge deal over her. I mean, there is no end to how much she sucks.
Ha, ha! That was my first thought as well. I used to really like them, but I hadn't heard them in a long while. A few years ago at a yard sale, I picked up a REM CD for 50 cents. Every song on the album sounded exactly alike. It killed the memories.
Agree. How Madonna slipped through this guy’s net is beyond me. She sounds awful without her voice being finessed by sound engineering. Her appearance always made my skin crawl for some reason. Never liked in yer face so called ‘sexual expression’. The only thing I grant her is cunning. To hoodwink people out of money is her talent. Cause musically she has none

Dumb article. CCR is the most overrated group of all time because some people lump them in with Southern Rock, which CCR never claimed to be and which CCR predated?
The Doors are overrated (which may be true) because Morrison doesn’t have a traditional rock star voice?
For me it’s always been John Coltrane. I don’t get it. He sounds like a cat in heat but these hippie jazz types think he’s a god or something.
I have always thought that, because she can't sing. She covers that inadequacy with breast cones and multitudinous gyrations.
Armando Perez, aka Pit Bull the Rapper. Holiday Inn formula.
Billie Holiday. Used same half-drunk persona over & over.
Judy Collins. Can sing, but often sang shockingly flat.
Katy Perry; Good Entertainer, Badly written songs, Flat Voice
Tom Waites: Good storyteller. Raspy, withered voice.
Alicia Keyes: Good Entertainer/Pianist..Yells, does not sing.
Jackson Browne: Decent Songwriter. Weak, pushed out voice.
The “Some Girls” album came out a month or so after HS graduation. I wasn’t a huge Stones fan, liked some of their music, but the woman I started dating at that time liked them A LOT. That album brings back fondling memories...well before “my4kidsmom”
