"What a work of art - this 1970 GTO Judge Convertible has it all.

House of Kolor paint, engine, exhaust, technical displays. You name it.

Well done"

Perhaps I am thinking of a earlier model but I thought The Judge had a taller spoiler when it came out.

My favorite was this 1966 green. Of course I'm partial because we had a '66 4-door hardtop Bonneville 389 CID with 4-barrel, the unique over/under headlights and split grille that looked just like this. It was the land yacht that I learned to drive in. I still love that old air vent down by your feet -- pull the knob and the air flow through the cabin was enormous. Nothing like that on a fine spring day, I tell you! Also mashing the brights button under your left foot was so much better than tweaking your brights with a flimsy stalk on the column. It's the little features I miss a lot.

I love cars a whole lot more than I can afford them.

Those who work on them can’t afford very many.

So, to avoid the envy and just enjoy, I tell myself that should SHTF I’m just going to steal classic cars and eat their formerly wealthy owners.

I wouldn’t want more than I can drive anyways, if you don’t drive cars it’s really bad for them.

My Rod these day is 09 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie 5.7.
Pretty snappy. I think I should just hang onto a car for once intstead of looking back on what I should have kept in the past.

I have a 66 Triumph Spitfire I’m restoring for the little woman right now.
I can hardly fit in the damn thing!

Run ability and paint this summer is the goal.
I can actually turn such a car into a daily runner so it’s fun.
A restore while you drive project.

I am going to get another project for myself after that so, I enjoy your car threads and trying to decide what I want next is impossible.

I had a 1970 Tempest in that deep dark green. Back in my late 20’s I put it together from a shell, no engine or trans, smoked electrical harness. On my meger budget I found a friend’s wrecked 1980 Caprice with a freshly rebuilt 305 and it’s harness plugged right in with the exception of an enlarged main hot wire.

It was full of noise and fury, no top end but it would scratch into second.

FUN TO DRIVE!

Yer making miss that car now.

It’s hard to choose between the 65 and 66 as my fave GTO.
The stacked headlight thing. I liked the fords that had that too.

Dad had a 68 Bonneville wagon he liked to pretend was a GTO...it did have the same engine after all.
Mom would be screaming at him to “knock it off!” while I felt perfectly safe embedded deep in my seat. “ Do it again Dad!”

I think 68 Bonneville/ Catalina was the height of Pontiac's predominate big nose grill era.
Just think of today's climate, people would call it racism imitating big nose Native Americans.
It was actually more suggestive of a hawk or eagle, but we liked big nose Injuns too back then, It was just cool. (opinions on coolness were mixed actually)

Well, that site is wrong.

Want an easy way to tell?

'68's have round side marker lights.

'69 and later...not round.

When I was growing up our family had a 63 Dart 273, a 65 Coronet 318, and a 66 Coronet 383. Great cars. The 273 and the 383 cars had 4barrels.

Thanks. I can see from my post 76 (1968 Charger) that you are correct about the rear side marker lights. That other, though not so easy to see, had the same (round) rear side marker lights. Too bad there weren’t a rest view pic of that car. Would have been even easier to tell, as the tail lights of course are also round on the 68, as opposed to rectangular on the 70. I think 69s also had the rectangular taillights.
