John "control the people" Dingell Dead at 92. Couldn't post the link from Detroit News.
I'll finish off my "Black Label" with a quick "slam!"
What a corrupt man. I guess he found out that when he dies, he can take nothing with him but his soul. Just like everyone else.
What the hell is Norwood going to do?
Black Label? My Dad used to drink that crap and it was awful. If you are from Michigan, try Two Hearted Ale from Bell’s. It is awesome. But I guess any beer would do to celebrate the death of a complete traitor and idiot like Dingell. Cheers regardless of what you choose.
10 minutes after he said on WJR "Paul W, it takes time to control the people" I got a call from a friend w/ a special needs child asking for help to get the word out, he was pissed. Within 10 minutes I had it posted here and asked everyone to get the words to our "Talkers" as many here were subscribers. Next day everyone ran with it as a lead story. Thank you FR, I can't take credit, but we all know FR is show prep, possibly one of the best things I have ever done, my own Italian salute to those that want to lord over us and to those frightened by what Obamacare meant to too their Special needs kids.
As to the Congressman, he was an interesting bird, pro-2nd amendment, at one point Pro-life IMMIC yet wanted Nationalized Healthcare. The DNC today would kick him out, as no one like him would be allowed to run. I terms of his arrogance, and his wielding of power, and sense of entitlement for being in that seat for 50+ years? I think I'll plead no comment on those 3...
It seemed humorous how he had to practically chase a congressional district out of Detroit (his initial seat was in the city) over the decades as Detroit kept losing congressional seats and whatever district he was in would inevitably merge with another one.
“Well, at least he can still vote.”
LOL, true dat.
Are you still in Detroit?
Bless you, for the part...however large, or small, that you did to get that word out.
No. I live in California now. The relatives still in Michigan, we are not that close anymore.
I don’t drink much beer anymore but I will lift a glass of rye whiskey to the Constitution being a little safer.
I believe Detroit, at its zenith, had about 7-8 Congressmembers at or within the city. Because there was no reapportionment nationally from 1912 until 1932, the explosion of urban-based districts enabled Dingell’s father to get one of those ethnic Eastern European seats newly created for that latter census.
Because Detroit dropped from over 1.2 million Whites in the city around 1950 to down to 50,000 or less as of 2010 (!), there was literally nothing left for Dingell to run for in the city and he went south and west — all the way to Ann Arbor (where he was unpopular amongst that different leftist crowd — he was the “White ethnic rabble”).
Detroit, now, of course, doesn’t even have enough residents to support a single CD within its boundaries. It’ll need the city and 300-400,000 more residents out in Wayne County or further in 2020. Wayne County itself will only have enough for 2 members, perhaps less.
Pro-gun in 1982, anti-gun a few years later when the winds of politics changed for a while.
No, NO! That is Johnnie Walker - Scotch!
He didn’t do very well in Washtenaw in his 2002 primary with poor Lynn Rivers (whatever became of her?) but he did better than she did in Wayne (not to mention Monroe).

You are the only one in thread to RIP him, you’re a good guy, I canna do it.
Who? A career politician.
Like John M....., whats his name? I forgot that to.
Well, at least he can still vote.
Lynn Rivers was the epitome of Ann Arbor politics. When the denizens of that formerly GOP locale learned they were being placed into Dingell’s seat, they were VERY unhappy. They thought of Dingell as a right-winger because of his NRA support. They also believed she could rally the Dims in the primary as “newer” (8 years to his then 47 years) and closer to the moonbats, but didn’t work out for her.
I just tried to do my Christian duty in wishing him an RIP, even though I was not a fan.
As an aside, it’s given me a chuckle with folks around here thinking Debbie is his daughter.
My bad. You are forgiven, but now I am thinking about hard liquor. What should it be and there is plenty to choose from here.
