Are Lt Governors elected or appointed in Virginia?
The reason I ask is to see if this is possible?
Lt Gov resigns, D Gov appoints a new (D) as Lt. Then Gov resigns. New Lt Gov becomes Gov and appoints his (D) Lt. Thus keeping things out of the hands of the (R) who is third in line right now.

I think that the governor will just try to ride the storm out. In time most media and other Democrats will decide its for the best to leave the photo issue alone, especially when they compare some cheesey old college blackface photos to two more recent college time Rape-rapes. The result is that Lt.Gov. Rape-Rape guy will probably be and Should be sacrificed to the wrath of the me-to Pinkhats!
