I was wondering something similar.
We had a guy here in Tennessee named Tony Alamo who had a cult, a compound of obedient adherents and a clothing line that made fantastic outfits country music stars loved. He got away with multiple marriages, pedophilia - a Southern fried David Koresh who did not want to shoot it out when the Feds finally came for him. Jailed for life and good thing.
