With singer Gladys Knight having performed the national anthem at the Super Bowl, there was contention by some who wished she had not given the controversy surrounding Colin Kaepernick.
She defended her decision to preform [sic] on Friday during her interview on CNN.
People are going to have their opinions. You know, about whatever. And all I can deal with, all I can deal with right now is what my heart says. Okay? I believe in fairness, Knight explained. I believe in truth. I believe in all of those things, and as far as this is concerned, I grew up with the national anthem. We used to sing it in school before school started. We used to say prayers in school before school started, and we just dont have that anymore and Im just Im just hoping that it will be about our country and how we treat each other and being the great country that we are.

"A real pip!"
Don Lemon’s career is nothing more than kid’s recess compared to Gladys Knight’s career. What would he know about a real career?
Good for Gladys.
No one should listen to anything Don Lemon says, anyway.
He’s as full of crap as a Christmas turkey. I saw her performance on the web and was touched by it. I’ve always loved her singing and even more so now.
Yes! Gladys Knight...a real American icon!
Everyone knows who Gladys Knight is; the only reason I know the name Don Lemon is through his various embarrassing failures.
Kids these days prefer false confidence over confidence, and when they open their mouths they reveal themselves as ignorant hapless losers.
It’s absolutely amazing to me how these news media types buy into their own notion of fame. They really think they’re special celebrities with huge fan bases. It’s no wonder they can’t call the news fairly. They can’t even appraise their own selves fairly.
She took me back to the wonderful 70’s/80’s. She looked beautiful, sang with all her heart and soul and brought tears to my eyes! Super Lady for Super Bowl! Thank you Gladys Knight!
I must admit, I welled-up a bit myself. A bit of sanity amidst a world of unjustified chaos.
sorry they have false confidence over competence.
Gladys is a true patriot!
Not that takes some real brain power and intellect to come up with that. /s/
That puts him on par with that idiot Atlanta, Georgia representative, Hank Johnson, who chastised a general in a congressional hearing because he thought Guam would turn upside down if too many troops were assigned to the island. Huh?
As Rush so aptly puts it, it is depressing to think that these people are the best this country has to offer.
Excellent rendition on the national anthem. I’m wondering if it was live or lip synched. If that was actually live, that was the greatest, if not, at least top 10.
Maybe Kaepernick can move to S Africa & help those politicians remove the correct owners of the land from their properties & hand the land over to blacks.
Lemon wants her to support a pack of lies and just because she’s black.
I agree. I usually dislike the “personalization” that many artists add to our National Anthem.
Gladys Knight did it great justice and I teared up, as I usually do when it is sung well....as in - from the heart.
Heh.
Didn’t hurt her career when she sang it in 1991.
Didn’t know that did you Don?
This is what you get without Gladys.
