So, without reading details or watching, the first movie had “normal” people, the first remake was lesbians, what is this, transgenders?

Is it me, or do I hear a few notes from the opening of Ray Parker Jr’s “Ghostbuster” in this?

I hope they cameo Egon Spengler as a ghost.

The Ghost Busters tv series from 1975 starring Forrest Tucker and Larry Storch with Bob Burns as their pet gorilla. The parallels to the feminist version is "spooky".

Sequels are tough. Sequels of slapstick spoofs are even tougher. The original Ghostbusters was brilliant. The first sequel was stale but still somewhat funny; the gags were already repetitive. I didn't see the female version and gather that I didn't miss much.

Rebooting the franchise after this many years requires a new concept and a new cast. The old-timers can be looped in for continuity, but they shouldn't carry the story. It's not as if the Ghostbusters "universe" has a deep internal logic to explore. It's slapstick. When well done, with the element of surprise, slapstick is hilarious, but -- after the age of five -- how much of Moe, Larry and Curly Joe can you take in one sitting, even with proton packs on their backs?

The more I think about it, the more I think this venture is a mistake. If the team can find a fresh twist to restore the element of surprise, kudos to them.

There already was a sequel to the original Ghostbusters in the original universe with the original cast. Ghostbusters 2 was a terrible movie but it exists.
