Looks like an amazing film. Just saw the preview on TV.

Is it worthwhile to see in 3d?
I think so
We had quality glasses that stayed put, even over our own glasses
And when you first see the living breathing in color soldiers you might actually gasp!
Saw it last week....DON’T MISS IT!!!
And stay for the part where Peter Jackson talks about the process of making the movie.
This is not Hollywood.
Jackson was commissioned by The Imperial War Museum in London to make this.
It hammered home for me that WWI was much difference than WWII.
I felt no particular animosity for the Germans. In fact the capture German POWs would help assist with carrying the British wounded on stretchers.
These were brothers fighting each other for reasons none of those soldiers really understood.
I think what WWI did, was forever shatter the illusion that war was some great adventure. Most signed up just because it offered a break from the monotony of Working Class life.
It is an amazing movie and respect to mr Jackson for doing this. Hopefully more to come.
Yes, WWI was definitely a different war. The Germans, as always, thought themselves superior and were aggressive about it...but this wasnt the pure evil of Hitler, and it wouldnt have come to war except for the complicated old alliances that still existed and dragged in all of Europe.
I think thats one of the reasons Trump wants to free us from some of our inherited alliances, which either no longer make sense, have become totally the opposite of what they were, or are not to our benefit or protection in any way.
I still blame Britain and France for not accepting the “New Kid on the Block”
Why?
Because there were so many more of them. They had built up the largest land army in Europe and was itching to use it. They may have had some anti-Semites among them, but on the whole Jewish Germans were considered Germans first and if you were a good fighter it didn't matter.
Hitler may have been the cause of World War II, but he was also the reason Germany LOST WW II. Ironic that the Nazis came to power with the excuse that Germany was stabbed in the back, when in fact the Nazis stabbed the German people in the back by their sheer arrogance and incompetence....not attacking the British troops in Dunkirk with tanks? Invading Russia? Declaring war on America? The work of true bunglers.
Well part of the motivation for Dresden was so that there was no way any German could use the “stabbed in the back” excuse at the end of WWII.
I’m still trying to figure out how we would have been worse off if Germany won WWI.
Now I assert Britain should have never gotten involved, in fact, “Brexit” would have been a great idea in 1914, and instead Britain should have focused more on The Empire, rather than on the European Continent.
The Germans knew they couldn’t threaten Britain with Britain’s overwhelming Naval superiority.
I saw it in 3D, but I don’t think I’d go out of my way to see it in 3D.
Thank you.
You’re nuts. Narrated by real WW I vets recorded in the 60s and 70s. Imperial War College real video of the war. Made in New Zealand. Nothing at all to do with Hollywood.
It’s the best war documentary ever assembled and the amount of new information about the Great War is astounding. It puts a human dimension on the war like nothing I’ve ever seen.
Absolutely yes. The 3D effect is quite subtle but very well done.
My wife and I watched it twice. We were so impressed by the first showing that we bought more tickets for the next one so we could bring some friends along. The 3D was amazing.
Every dang time this is showing, I am working. What the heck!? Just release it for multiple days!
Well done but the mini documentary at the end should have been first.
It explains a lot of what your seeing and hearing.
LOL. Optimist! The country can be saved. Or even the implied there is a country to save.
