I grew up there — left in ‘66. We hardly ever had a school closing. Blizzards were part of life.

My first interview for my first real job was in January 1982 in Buffalo.
I flew out from Boston on a beautiful, sunny day. The Finger Lakes were glorious from 33 000 feet. Rochester off to the right looked like a postcard.
Then - a dark speck on the horizon grew rapidly.
We landed in near-zero visibility. Last flight in or out for 36 hours. I was picked up the next day in a tracked vehicle, but the offices I was going to were closed so I interviewed in a bar.
And this was said to be normal.

The brutal fall and winter of 1976-1977 was used as proof we were entering a NEW ICE AGE!

Must add something else. January of 1977 made the news in which the entire Continental USA had constant cloud cover for the entire month.

The people in Buffalo have a special name for this kind of weather.
They call it “wednesday”
