Chicago police told Fox News they've reviewed hundreds of hours of footage from downtown surveillance cameras but haven't found footage yet of the alleged attack on "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett.
The department said Tuesday night that detectives reviewed footage from privately-owned cameras near where Smollett says he was attacked and will broaden their search by reviewing footage from traffic cameras and public bus cameras.
"We are taking this investigation very seriously," the police statement said.
Smollett told police he was walking downtown near the Chicago River at around 2 a.m. on Tuesday when two masked men hurled racial and homophobic slurs at him, beat him, threw an "unknown substance" on him and put a rope around his neck. Police also told Fox News that Smollett said the attackers yelled, “This is MAGA country.” Investigators said he gave the detail to detectives during a follow-up inquiry, not when he initially reported the incident to police.

Even if the attack were not caught, there should be video of him on the street...
The entire allegation sounds like something some screenwriter cooked up... because the idea that just 2 random folks in ski masks just happened to have a rope and some bleach and just decided to start shouting epitaphs at someone at 2AM and then beat them up etc just doesn’t add up, and then shout Trump Slogans after?
That sounds like what left wing nutters think that people act like.. not how people actually act.
It is possible the attack did happen, and they were left wing red flags trying to look like they were right wingers... but if that had been the case they would have been damn sure it was all on camera.
This thing doesn’t pass the smell test, never did... odds are its another Tawana Brawley...

Clearly the guy got beat up somehow, but the odds his beating went down like he claims, sure seems very low probability.

Well, the guy is much safer walking around Chicago in a Snowstorm at 2 AM then he is hanging out in Ed Buck’s West Hollywood Apartment.
In Chicago, it’s well known that if you want to be robbed and beaten, you go outside at 2:00 AM.
I don’t know anything about expectations in Chicago otherwise.
If a Hoax I’m going to call for an investigation, arrest and trial since they are treating this as a ‘hate crime’. If he was attached by someone because of his race or sexual preference then ok we need to find those people and have the criminal system deal with them, but if a hoax, then the same needs to apply to the one who lied!
I’d think a lot of wives would be pissed if their husbands woke them up at 2 am to drive them down to the docks.

Let’s say it turns out to be a hoax. And I think it probably is. It will still NOT blow up in their faces. Liberal psychologists will show up on TV. Liberal columnists will write essays. They’ll all say that Trump’s actions drove that guy to imagine the attack.

I saw a photo of the actor with a cut and bruse under his right eye. His story is unbelievable though. I am guessing a violent domestic dispute with a boyfriend. By making up a MAGA boogyman, he can explain his injury and deflect attention from his boyfriend in particular and gay people in general onto a group of people that he hates anyway.

I don’t always go out to assault unknown gay actors but when I do I always wear a MAGA hat and do it in downtown Chicago @2:00 AM or Harlem.
And how would they know he was gay?
I don’t think they were wearing MAGA hats, but allegedly shouted “This is MAGA country.” Someone wearing a MAGA hat at 2 am in downtown Chicago would be taking a big risk.
