TRUMP DID NOT FAIL US, WE FAILED TRUMP
Vanity | 01-26-2019 | Captain Peter Blood

Posted on 01/26/2019 6:02:33 PM PST by Captain Peter Blood

I have deliberately tried not to read the articles and comments of the last couple of days since President Trump’s announcement on the deal to end the government shutdown.

The reason being was the kind of negative comments and wailing that the President had caved and no longer deserved our support. I flatly reject that argument.

None of can truly know the immense pressure the President was under to find a way to end this imbroglio. I, like many, had hoped that the President could tough it out and get the Border Wall Funding that is needed. The truth is the President went further than any one before him on Principle, but at some point it became an issue of diminishing returns politically, and the Democrats refused to bargain in good faith.

The real truth is that President Trump is one man who has been battling not only the Democrats, but his own party that have refused to stand with him, not only on the Border issue but many others as well. What could we the voters who put President Trump in office really expect?

President Trump in two short years has accomplished more than any of us could have realistically expected given the circumstances. A man who was not a professional politician and had come up through the ranks to become President, but one who was a independent outsider that by a fluke won and beat all the professionals, and badly at that.

We have to take note and realize that both political parties are corrupt, in fact they are beyond the Pale kind of corrupt and one man cannot take them on and win without unqualified support. We the voters that put Mr. Trump in office in many ways have failed him, and failed him miserably.

When exactly was the last time that people took to the streets to really protest anything or marched on Washington D.C. to demand any change? There were certainly many protests and such during the Vietnam War as well as Civil Rights Demonstrations in the 1960’s and early 1970’s.

The one time though that I can recall from history that people actually went to Washington D.C. for a real protest was during the early 1930’s. It was during the Depression and it was the Bonus March where veterans of W.W. I came to get the monies they were promised for fighting in W.W. I. Over 43,000 people came and tent cities sprang up all over Washington.

The Army was called out to disperse them, they were under the command of then Chief of Staff Douglas MacArthur , tear gas and guns were used, people died ,and it was a shameful period in out history.

My point in bringing this up is this, at what point do we as Americans, finally decide we have had enough of the corrupt parties in D.C. and finally march on the city and demand our Government do what we elected them to do????

Recently we have seen those in France, The Yellow Vests, do exactly that. The people there were finally pushed to the braking point tax wise and were able to cause a General Strike and for the most part were able to force the Government to it’s knees and they aren’t finished yet as they have been emboldened to press on and try to get other reforms.

The question arises when do we in this country do the same, what is the tripping point here? Will people ever get motivated to come out of their little cocoons, put down their cell phones, get away from the video games, etc. and etc. to demand that government be accountable to them and have our elected officials do what we elect them to do or we will just go along, silently assent and acquiesce?

Because if we aren’t going to so what is necessary to demand our Politicians be accountable then how can we hold President Trump responsible?

President Trump isn’t perfect and we knew that when we elected him, but we also knew he wasn’t a Boy Scout either, he was a New York Street Fighter and that was what was needed. Like or not Donald Trump is the only game in town for us, The Deploreables. If what the Democrats propose and want doesn’t scare you then I don’t know what to tell you.

I will continue to support the President through thick and thin as there is no other alternative for the future of our country and Constitution.

Maybe we won’t get the Border Wall, but it won’t be for lack of trying. President Trump has put it all on the line for us because I think he loves his country, we need to find more ways to support the President.

My dream would be 10 Million of us march on Washington D.C. and demand what we know is right and the politicians be Damned.

The question is what will it take to make us do that?

[Amazing, you have it all figured out, even Trump not running in the 2020 election. Incredible.

Who do ya think Trump supporters should get behind if Trump bails out?]

I hope he remains politically viable in the general. But if he’s looking like a no-hoper, my guess is that he’ll bail out before it’s too late, if only to avoid being persecuted by an incoming Democratic administration. GOP voters need to get behind the GOP standard bearer, whether Trump or someone else. But it wasn’t just traditional GOP voters who dragged Trump across the finish line in 2016.

I hope the non-traditional voters who pulled the lever for Trump will re-up in 2020, despite the lack of a wall. Like it or not, though, voters do remember campaign promises. Remember “read my lips”? Trump not only promised to build a wall - he promised that Mexico would pay for it. I doubt anyone will sweat the fact that Mexico won’t actually be writing a check directly. But the lack of a wall is likely to be a real sore point.

And if he don't, who should Trump supporters get behind?

If I had to say, Texas Governor Greg Abbott. I think he'd be great. And I certainly will vote for him if he runs in 2024.

If Trump is forced to declare a state of emergency, and the courts try to shut him down, you'll see millions rise up and descend on DC again.

That's one sure-fire way to get the party started.

The GOP standard bearer, whomever that is. I’m not real picky, at this point. If Trump doesn’t run, my guy is Cruz. But I’ll vote for whomever the GOP nominee turns out to be - even Flake or Kasich, two GOP pols I really, really despise. Because the alternatives are Harris, Sanders or Warren (2% wealth tax). Hugo Chavez beckons. Just when we thought the Democratic party couldn’t get more nutty than it did under Obama, it got more nutty.

I’ll second that. Low key and effective. I’d say Scott Walker, if he decides to run as an immigration restrictionist. The great thing about Trump is that he has widened the Overton window. The subject of immigration restriction is no longer Nazi-talk.

No kidding? Me personally, after two Bush's and an LBJ, I won't be voting for anyone running for president coming out of Texas.

In fact, I won't be supporting anymore lawyers and or career politicians, most of which are also lawyers btw..lol. See, I've had a decades long belly full of insiders and their lip service and lies. I like outsiders now.☺

Btw, without Trump, the GOP is dead on the floor...As it should be.

I wish you were right, but the GOPe weasels are already running scared in the Senate and will no doubt lean against another shutdown. I’m all for an emergency EO, but a left-wing federal judge will shut it down the next day. The admin will appeal, of course, but Justice Roberts (thanks George Bush Jr) has shown himself unwilling to get very involved in immigration stuff, especially if it is seen as an end run around the legislative process.

The time for the wall was 2017.

I am with you....100%!!! I am with & stand by & behind POTUS, Donald J. Trump!!! We can fix Washington and politics with one simple piece of legislation. It is called “Term Limits”. Two terms for Senators (12 Years) & Three terms for Congressmen (6 years). Case closed.

Thanks for your post..it is a good one.

In almost got kicked off freerepublic back in 09 because I wanted to bring some big guillotines...I mean I had designs and trucks in mind. I was told not to promote violence.

It absolutely should have been done back then.

I believe we failed President Trump by not working hard enough for Republican candidates in the midterm elections. Such takes letters to the editors, knocking on doors, waving signs, putting up signs (especially on your own property), manning phone banks, putting bumper stickers on your car, helping candidates raise money and advocating for the candidates on social media connections. By the way, I did every one of the above things. There just were not enough of us to offset the propaganda program that used guilt by association tactics that used a smeared President Trump to paint our candidates with the same brush.

You're living in the past. We can't go back and change it. What didn't get done in 2017 is immaterial now.

Trump will still get the wall built (or at least as much as possible because I think it will take more than a few years to build it all properly) and saying it won't happen now is the kind of negativity that sets things up for failure.

There is only one approach to getting things done and that is to believe you can do it.

Saying it can't be done is a formula for failure from the get-go.

The meme was created for people like you who are ready to give up too easily.

"I think that is how this will end. Trump will declare a national security emergency and build the wall without the DemocRATS support."

I believe President Trump is putting the finishing touches on his plan to use his emergency powers to build the wall. He has hired a team of lawyers to fight the legal fight. If he plays this fight correctly, it will buy him enough time to put up 100s of miles of barrier before the liberal judges shut it down.

IMO there is a plan to put up the wall very quickly--within a week. The fencing has all been fabricated and loaded on trucks and staged close the border. An army (The Army Corp of Engineers) of manpower has been trained to quickly set up the fencing. The Army Corp of Engineers is in the ready. It will be SLAM, BAM THANK YOU MAM. It will be so quick, heads will explode.

Good post! I will bring up the Tea Party. In the original form with no leaders, it scared the crap out of the RATs and elitists.

Mass protests do work.

I agree except for the time it will take.

Throwing up prefabs over a 100 miles in a week may be possible.

But we're talking almost 2,000 miles of border wall (or fencing) with Mexico that has to be built, less the miles that have already been built, of course.

Realistically, it will take years for the entire thing to be built.

And the Republican Party would not support Trump either, Ryan and McConnell certainly did not want that border wall funding.

That's exactly right. Trump has been surrounded by posers and liars in the Republican party since day one. It's no secret. Not to mention the other corrupt party who want to impeach this president. The man is literally surrounded by traitors and their deep state hired guns.

And it's become very clear, some of the biggest never-Trump factions on this site, are butt hurt Cruz supporters.

In fact, based on their own words, these people will have no issues going right back to supporting biz as usual, party first politicians the second Trump is out of the picture. You can see that right here on this thread.

But what they don't realize, or possibly don't care about, is the GOP without Trump, is done, dead on the floor. Without Trump it would be president Hillary Clinton, right now. The GOP has no candidate other than Trump and the and the lying left will eat them alive in any future election, just like the left would have done in 2016 running one of their own party first politicians.
