David Faris: "Plotting, in effect, a coup"

While trekking the internet I came across this article from March 2018 by David Faris in the Washington Post about packing the Supreme Court:

Democrats must consider court-packing when they regain power. It’s the only way to save democracy.

I did a search and came up with the book he wrote, "It’s Time to Fight Dirty: How Democrats Can Build a Lasting Majority in American Politics:

It’s Time to Fight Dirty How Democrats Can Build a Lasting Majority in American Politics

The American electoral system is clearly falling apart—as evidenced by the 2016 presidential election. In It’s Time to Fight Dirty, David Faris offers accessible, actionable strategies for American institutional reform which don’t require a constitutional amendment, and would have a lasting impact on our future.

With equal amounts of playful irreverence and persuasive reasoning, Faris describes how the Constitution’s deep democratic flaws constantly put progressives at a disadvantage, and lays out strategies for “fighting dirty” though obstructionism and procedural warfare: establishing statehood for D.C. and Puerto Rico; breaking California into several states; creating a larger House of Representatives; passing a new voting rights act; and expanding the Supreme Court.

The Constitution may be the world’s most difficult document to amend, but David Faris argues that many of America’s democratic failures can be fixed within its rigid confines—and, at a time when the stakes have never been higher, he outlines a path for long-term, progressive change in the United States.

I went to his Twitter account and this is his twitter manifesto:

Prof. of politics @RooseveltU, writer @TheWeek. Author, IT'S TIME TO FIGHT DIRTY. Baseball nut. Dad, husband. "Plotting, in effect, a coup."

This is an insane man.

Liberal socialists have exploited every weakness and technicality possible to destroy this country.

Their progress is our destruction.

Divisions of what? He only needs to take the senate and the President position. Then he stacks it (The government)with leftist which had already begun under zero!

Yet another garden-variety smarter-than-you leftist whose politics is his identity and his religion, and by gosh he is gonna shove his religion down your throat and you are gonna like it or else.

Lefty Loonies decided Trump was NOT their president, so they appointed Nanzi to step into the part.

Piglosi is playing the part of president at Mach Speed.

BTW, did you catch Miss Piggy on TV “signing a bill” ——using the “presidential row of pens”?

One pen at a time, she inks in her name. The pens are then given out as souvenirs. That’s a new one for a “mere Speaker.”

She’s really delusional.

Trump surely knows what he’s up against——cancelling the military trip was his first move. He’s not finished with her, yet.

The Pelosi Plot: House Resolution 1 — Enforce Federal Control Over State Elections
citizenfreepress.com/ ^ | 1/15/19 | J. Christian Adams /FR Posted by a little elbow grease

If you thought the midterm elections had problems, wait until you learn about Nancy Pelosi’s plan to terminate state control over American elections. Democrats in Congress have announced their top legislative priority, and it isn’t health care, immigration, or taxes. Instead, they want to centralize power over elections in Washington, D.C. H.R. 1 is number one on the legislative agenda because it is the number one priority of House Democrats, leftist groups, deep-pocketed dark money, and those who use election process rules to help win elections — or at least to cause chaos.

The bill is a 571-page dreamscape of wild wishes and federal mandates on states.H.R. 1 has 218 cosponsors. It forces states to implement mandatory voter registration. If someone is on a government list — such as receiving welfare benefits or rental subsidies — then they would be automatically registered to vote. Few states have enacted these systems because Americans still view civic participation as a voluntary choice. Moreover, aggregated government lists always contain duplicates and errors that states, even without mandatory voter registration, frequently fail to catch and fix.

H.R. 1 also mandates that states allow all felons to vote. Currently, states have the power under the Constitution to set the terms of eligibility in each state. Some states, like Maine, have decided that voting machines should be rolled into the prisons. Other states, like Nevada, have chosen to make a felony a disenfranchising event. H.R. 1 also undermines the First Amendment by exerting government control over political speech and undoing the Supreme Court’s Citizen’s United decision. Pelosi and the Democraps have completely abandoned any pretense at governing.

The very last thing Democraps want is to do the right thing for the American people.

Nanzi’s cockamamie activities illustrate they are plotting and colluding to sow confusion among the electorate.

They believe that’s the only thing that will put them back in total power over us.

Forget reasoning, compromise, negotiating......that aint in the Dems bag of tricks.

REMEMBER THIS The Democraps are an invading army waging war on a peaceful people........
the young, able-bodied males streaming across the border are the Dems' foot-soldiers.

Democrats must consider court-packing when they regain power. It’s the only way to save democracy.

Even taking "democracy" to mean any government where the people rule (and avoiding the republic vs. democracy fight), it is ironic that he is proposing pumping up the power of the least democratic institution in the US government in order to save democracy? And who is to say that after the Republicans take back power they boost the Supreme Court from 15 to 31 seats and appoint 16 justices in one shot?

The American electoral system IS falling apart and will continue to deteriorate unless/until strict voter ID is imposed and enforced from the top.

[ It’s the only way to save democracy. ???

A Republic is where only responsible people are allowed to pick a responsible person they trust to represent them.

A Democracy is where mostly irresponsible people vote for the spoils of the responsible people so that they can remain in a state perpetual irresponsibility until the money runs out.

Republics seem to only last ~200 years as the people who inhabit them grow decadent from the prosperity they enable.

Rome was a republic until they became a totalitarian empire.

All empires will eventually split up anyways.

So will we skip the empire phase?
