While there are so many reasons to love the South right now, Memphis is certainly one of them. In fact, popular travel site TripSavvy just named Memphis the best overall destination for 2019 on their "Where to Go in 2019" travel list.

As well as rt 6 in n.pa as the most scenic route in America.
I wouldn’t say its the most scenic but it is quite nice.

Memphis is awful! I have suggested giving it to Arkansa but I’m sure they wouldn’t take it. We did a cross country road trip several years ago and the only place we got lost was going through Memphis about midnight on the way home. We had to get a motel room. We pushed a chair against the door and slept with our handguns on the nightstands. We didn’t sleep a wink all night listening to guns going off all over the place and the sirens. If we make another trip we will avoid Memphis at all costs.

“Diversity” is one of their criteria? That’s a rather large red flag.
I highly recommend Townsend, TN. My wife and I spent 2 weeks there back in October. It is convenient to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and even Knoxville. We hit all these spots while renting a cabin in Townsend. Beautiful views, nice people, great experience all around.

That’s crazy. My friend’s son lives there, and it’s a cesspool of liberalism and “diversity”. His wife is a teacher and the children are animals.
The key to good southern living is that your town never shows up in a national publication on popularity list such as this.

Memphis is a crime ridden hell hole. Pinehurst NC is sweet. Roanoke, VA. Charleston and Savannah are awesome. Not Memphis.

I was warned 10-15yrs ago to stay away from Memphis, since I wanted to go and hear some serious Blues music.
The bad areas greatly outnumber the good areas.
