From what you said in other posts, you live out in the country. Guess that is a trade off for privacy, peace, and tranquility?
I would like to find a more rural location, but I do need high speed internet options...So I guess I have to find a balance.
Well, good luck with your search. Technology is changing, hopefully you will find a better solution soon :)
I dont know how Freedom gets free data for Roku, but I dont. You pay for your data.
Roku does not provide data. It is a streaming device that uses your WiFi from your home internet service provider.
It allows you to stop/cut cable and just use your internet to get various TV channels...some free and some you can pay for such as DirectTV, SLING, STARZ, HULU, etc. My internet provider allows for unlimited data—I am paying for speed.
If I use DIRECTTV or YouTube on a phone or tablet, then I will use data from phone plan.
Maybe that helps to clear up what I was saying.
Our choice was stay in California with fast internet, or pack it in while the market was good and enjoy this...
Just stunning :)
Sling tv is raising prices too. They are cable tv but has several more channels and ability to watch shows anytime for most of the channels offered.
It was $30/month then several months ago they raised it to $35. I received an email from them last week saying that the 4 EPIX channels are going to another tier and would cost $5 more. I hardly watch any of Sling but TCM.
Try the FREE Pluto TV. It has lots of tv shows and lots of movies and documentaries. I use a Roku 4.
Roku has at least 3,000 apps.
Roku Ultra is $99 and has a ethernet port.

That is a good choice, but the Marathon antenna is excellent.
Enjoy!
Sling has no business raising prices. Hulu doesn’t even have DVR. DirectTVNOW has better locals and DVR, plus OANN!!
I save $11 total, and confirmed that Roku supports it.
AT&T seems to have the ability to learn from the market in a way others haven’t.
Netflix is going to be an epic crack up. So much debt. So much of it. And their burn rate is 2008 style - there is not tomorrow for them apparently.
Did you try the Marathon antenna?
I did. No joy.
There is no such thing as an HD antenna except in the mind of a marketing department. Wavelength and frequency determine needed antenna characteristics, not modulation or packetization. The flat antennas generally are double bow ties, a design that was popular also in the 60s when I helped my dad erect one.
I am sorry to hear that. We are at the bottom of a hill surrounded by homes and trees and with no line of sight to the antennas and so very far, as well. Did you get even one channel? I know I initially hooked mine up with the power cable reversed to the antenna and got nothing, then realized I had it reversed and crossed my fingers it wasnt fried. It wasnt. 🙂 After all my research, I cant imagine a better one to have tried.
