He was actually pretty good.

Not particularly good at drawing people, which is what kept him out of the best art schools, which, of course, he blamed on Joooos who ran the place (or he thought they did, same effect).

I often wonder what would have happened if he was just a bit better.

Probably some other asshole would have taken his place.

I was just thinking the same thing. I think the paintings are kind of boring, but he might have amounted to something positive.

His archenemy, Winston Churchill was a far better artist. Interesting isn’t it.

...he blamed on Joooos who ran the place...

But it was Jewish business owners that bought his land/city-scape paintings, providing him with a living at the time.

Kinda in the same league of question on “what would have happened if Fidel Castro had been a better ball player”?

Somebody else would have filled the role. And they might have been a better general than Hitler.

Just as there are societal conditions that generate messiahs, Wiemar Germany was in dire need of a strong horse. It not Hitler, it would have been someone else.

I’m re-reading THE RISE AND FALL OF THE THIRD REICH and it shows Hitler as a typical socialist, who had an aversion to working for a living, so he basically was a tramp or bum in Vienna. Like “Cousin Eddie, he was holding out for a management position, of people.

As some Germans said of him...”From drummer boy to Dictator.” in one step.

If I remember right he was advised to be an architect, since his technical drawing and painting skills were found wanting. He always had a keen interest in architecture all the way through his plans for a new Berlin, but I guess he rejected architecture as a profession.
