Was there a stone monument that indicated the exact spot?
Not sure who drew your map, but they have the Gulf of Aqaba and the Gulf of Suez mislabeled.
I am ALL FOR the Saudi’s building a super city. Then we can send them all of the ‘refugees’ to live there. I’m sure Europe would like to send some of theirs as well.
If Saudi would put then all in that one city and contain them great.
That area is controlled by Egypt.
Hmm, according to you, then, Moses led the Hebrews through the Red Sea and then doubled back to reach your Mt. Sinai? That’s the only way it could happen because the Bible clearly states that the Israelites went on to Mt. Sinai in Midian AFTER crossing the Red Sea.
The Saudi site makes more sense than the traditional Mt. Sinai on the Sinai Peninsula. Seems like I read that they will not let Christian or Jewish scholars near the site.

One of *those* topics.

What the......?
And the Saudi government/whoever thinks that it's a good idea to bulldoze this site for a "super city"; whether one believes it is Mount Sinai or not? It's really a pathetically stupid idea!
That’s a GREAT idea and the ONLY purpose such a dumb idea deserves to be turned into...for the good!
The new King wants a large, technically advanced, solar-powered, very wired, secular, self-governed, modern city, at the confluence of four regional states -- the KSA, Jordan, Egypt, and (though not mentioned) Israel. A lot of the land area will be covered with single- or 2-storey residential and other structures, hence the sprawl (33 times the area of NYC).
It would be nice if he could talk the Egyptians into it instead, building it in the Sinai peninsula. Ah well.
And just WHO is going to live there? The population of Saudi Arabia isn’t enough to fill a city that gigantic.
Saudi population is over 20 million (about 5 million are guest workers, who do most of the work in the country); the area looks excessive, but A) even with their declining birthrate, a place of that kind is bound to attract Arabs from neighboring areas, such as "Palestinians" from Jordan, Egypt, Gaza, Israel, and the other countries in the Middle East where they live; and B) a good bit of the area will be non-residential, iow, commercial, high tech manufacturing, and infrastructure (water desalination, photovoltaic arrays, power storage).
... or the water. Cities take lot of water. Lots & lots.
Refugee/displaced persons camp.
