MADISON, WI (WKOW) Madison police arrested a man after he called 911 on himself for using an ax to destroy his own property.
The incident occurred Sunday night at a home on Madisons west side, according to a blog post by Madison Police Chief Mike Koval.
The 34-year-old man thought his wife had damaged his action figures, said Koval.
After his wife had left the house, he used a log-splitting ax to destroy his TV, the TV stand, a laptop and a few other items in the house, the post said. Then the man took his ax outside to attack the family car, police said. He clipped off both side-view mirrors, smashed the car, and finally embedded the ax in the in the windshield, according to Koval.
The man called 911, admitting that he overreacted and had too much to drink, Koval wrote.
Officers arrived at the home just after 10 p.m. to find the ax still stuck in the cars windshield. Police arrested the man on charges of disorderly conduct and felony damage to property, according to the blog post.
Unless they consider it is only half his and half his wife’s property? I can clearly see the disorderly conduct charge though.
Presumably his wife owned part.
It’s a stretch, though.
Disorderly conduct (also called “disturbing the peace”) is a crime that usually involves some kind of offensive or disruptive public activity. Criminal statutes in some states include public intoxication as one kind of behavior that can be considered disorderly conduct.

“A 34 year old man with action figures?”
He talks to them and they tell him “things”. Wouldnt YOU be upset at the thought of losing a special relationship like that?!?
Call the police.
Now besides having to replace all of those things he broke; he has to pay a lawyer, court cost and maybe spend time in jail. Not to mention lost wages.
He would have been much better off to go to bed and sleep it off.
If he felt, he needed to be punished he need only wait until his wife came home.
Much or all of what he damaged may be his wife’s property, too — especially since Wisconsin is a “community property” state.
disorderly conduct on private property that could not have been disturbing anyone else? The man arrested is the one who called the police. Not a chance of any crime from the info given. America has utterly become a police state. This stuff is sickening. Contrary to what we hear America needs far less cops and government both. America is a nation of police and police power. This is not what the founders envisioned.
I would think running around acting like a madman with an axe attacking property, even if it is your property, might qualify. Because not one of his neighbors knows if their property, or worse, is next. Wisconsin wouldn’t surprise me if they looked at community property in a marriage as being communal, yet individualistic as well. It makes people more inclined to be guilty of breaking the law when communal property is purposely destroyed. Win win for liberals, as he can now be prohibited from enjoying his 2nd amendment rights as well, and they rake in some money in the process too. 8>)
Since when is Elmo an action figure?
All hell would have been unleashed had wifey barged into the bathroom while he was in the tub and sink his boats.
We used to call them “dolls” and only girls played with them.
“34 year-old man” + “action figures” - Hmmmm.... something’s not right here. More pitiful still, this is not an anomaly.
He would rather be in police custody than face his wife after he wrecked their stuff!
Maybe his “wife” is XY.
Totally one of my fave scenes from that comedy classic!
Poor widdle snowflake. Someone messed with his dolls and he threw a temper tantrum. Emotional three year old girl, he is.
Cell mate: What are you in for?
Wisconsin Dude: Someone messed with my doll collection and I had a tantrum.
Are you serious? You really think that a 34 year old "man" who plays with dolls owns a house and car free and clear of liens?
I’ve split a lot of logs. By “log-splitting ax”, I assume they mean that it was considerably heaver than a normal ax.
Where I live I do not feel like I am living in a police state. But then the country offers that kind of experience.
While big cities are becoming more police state like, the population is playing a huge role in making that a reality in those areas. If you think you would prefer it if the police adopted a more hands off approach, you might not like what that reality might look like even more so than you do now. Most police like policing no more than you like them policing. Many get involved in police work to capture and remove criminals. Often times they are thwarted from accomplishing that desired goal. By lawyers, courts, and politicians.
