Very sad. Accidents happen. You hope people exercise caution.
Yosemite is a beautiful park and a great place for Darwin nominations. They feature aerial acrobatics, cliff divers, and speed swimming events numerous times a year on average.
I’ve never been to Yosemite. I’d be willing to bet, though, that it has one thing in common with the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone: there are signs all over the place warning people not to do stupid stuff.
I’m not sure why so many people now don’t seem to grasp that places like national parks aren’t Disneyland or movie sets and that if you aren’t careful you can actually DIE there.
The links don’t work.
Good points. Some people seem to lose common sense.
Hmmmm ..perhaps this will work https://www.foxnews.com/us/couple-who-died-after-falling-from-yosemite-cliff-were-intoxicated-report
Well said.
Adventure seekers got their big adventure . . . short lived as it was.
I think they would have liked to have had a “Do Over” on that one.
Hold my beer.
Being near the edge of a cliff is dangerous. Add alcohol to that and it’s stupid.
Drunk and stupid.

“A lot of us including yours truly is a fan of daredevilry attempts of standing at the edge of cliffs and skyscrapers, but did you know that wind gusts can be FATAL??? Moorthy wrote. Is our life just worth one photo? Sean Matteson, a Yosemite visitor from Oakland, said he noticed Moorthy around sunset at Taft Point, saying she stood out because of her bright pink hair. She was very close to the edge, but it looked like she was enjoying herself, Matteson said. She gave me the willies. There arent any railings. I was not about to get that close to the edge.”
A few years ago I walked Four Mile trail from the valley floor to Glacier Point. Although the trail is well groomed, it is narrow in some spots with a 2000 foot drop. Not many selfie idiots back then, but I can only imagine what it’s like now. I did witness a woman with bad leg cramps who had to be rescued. I helped wheel her out on a gurney. A very difficult rescue. People need to be aware of their limitations and certainly alcohol mixed in is a recipe for disaster.
“The travel-obsessed couple ...”
Excessive travel is bad for your health.
“I think they would have liked to have had a Do Over on that one.”
The devil doesn’t issue mulligans.
“...died of multiple injuries to the head, neck, chest and abdomen...”
Not to mention injuries to the back, thighs, hips, knees, calves, ankles, feet, toes ...
Now Yosemite has a new attraction: Lovers Leap.
