President Donald Trump paid tribute Saturday to the four Americans killed in a suicide bomb attack in Syria this week in a visit to Dover Air Force Base.
Ceremonies at the base marked the return of the remains to American soil.
The president stood solemnly and saluted the remains of civilian Scott A. Wirtz of St. Louis as they were carried from a C-17 military aircraft into a waiting van.
Wirtz had been assigned to the Defense Intelligence Agency as an operations support specialist.
The three other transfers were to be conducted privately, with the president observing.
Trump also spent time with the victims' families.
Trump told reporters as he left the White House for the trip that meeting the relatives of the country's fallen heroes "might be the toughest thing" he has to do as president.
Trump flying alone to pay his respects and meet with the families of these heroes in private stands in strong contrast to the made for TV event Hillary and Obama preformed after Benghazi.
For as long as I can remember, the bodies of service personnel (and some dignitaries) killed in service to our country in Europe, Africa and the Middle East have been transferred to the US Mortuary at Dover Delaware for burial preparation. This was not the case with U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, U.S. Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith and CIA contractors, Tyrone S. Woods and Glen Doherty.
In that single case, as part of the cover up of the Benghazi attack the Obama administration arranged for the plane transporting their bodies home to be diverted to Andrews AFB for a hastily put together "made for media" memorial in a decorated hanger. To the best of my knowledge this has never been done, not even for our astronauts killed in the Challenger disaster.
As we all know, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama personally looked the relatives of the murdered Americans in the eye and told them they would make every effort to arrest and prosecute an enigmatic video make from California whom they had chosen as their scapegoat for the crime they had committed.
Duplicity and manipulation is nothing new to Washington D.C., but this display and the conduct of Clinton, Obama and the media that aids them was, I think, one of the most sickening moments in history during my life time. As far as I can tell this was done for two reasons; 1. to catch the news cycle at an opportune time and 2. because neither Clinton nor Obama could be bothered to leave D.C. for and actual memorial service. He was entertaining some Olympic athletes later in the day and she had a paid speaking engagement the following morning to prepare for.
This isnt a vanity. You are reporting something that happened.
looks like the story was ripped from this source without proper attribution:
“I think”
No, you know. We watched them use people they murdered as political pawns and photo-ops. Even the families requested they not be there and they went anyway.
When I finally found it on an AP link I got a message that the source (AP-Delaware Online) is not allowed, so I did the best I could.
If this need to be removed or corrected, I'll take my lashes and move on.
This is what a real President does to honor those who laid down their lives for our nation. And the press won’t report that he constantly does this? Swine.
Thank you - I really twisted some hall monitor britches with my attempt to deliver this story.
If Trump followed his instincts and appointed people who shared his America first perspective, these men would have departed Syria long ago and would still be alive. Sadly they made the supreme sacrifice and it did nothing to enhance the security of the American people. Trump has surrounded himself with old globalist generals and thus far has not yet disengaged from any of these debilitating foreign entanglements. The globalists feel there is an endless source of American treasure and blood to achieve their warped vision.
Good job Bay.
