PANIC REIGNS AS MAJOR SNOWSTORM THREATENS TO BURY NYC !!! [vanity/satire]

January 18 2019 - The New York Whines -

A huge snowstorm is threatening to overtake New York City this morning, as over 1/32nd of an inch of the dreaded semi-frozen crystals have accumulated thus far in Central Park and on the streets between Lexington and Fifth Avenues.

Buses and Subways are running at half speed as ordered by Mayor Bill de Blasshole after he was awoken from his mid-morning snooze and informed of the developing calamity facing the city.

Said the Mayor before resuming his nap, "I have fully capable people in positions to deal with these types of trivial matters, so don't bother me no more about it", then stormed off in a huff.

A top aide to the Mayor concurred, "Hizzoner has a very important communist revolution to lead, do you think he needs to hear this shit from you irritating reporters?".

When asked by our Whines reporter, the aide declined to provide his name, but added, "If you alt-right so called 'journalists' at the Whines had only let us tax you at 100% six years ago then we wouldn't even be having this conversation".

City authorities have advised residents to secure their supplies of bread and milk, as this may be a long haul until at least midday this afternoon, but warned not to venture outside, as the sidewalks may be slippery when wet. Additionally, authorities have assured that used syringe deposit boxes will remain open and in full operation at all city parks within the five boroughs.

Well at least I have the memories of a Rochester that once was. I forgot to mention The RKO Palace and I think it was the Paramount Theater were places I went with my friends when we were teens. I can still remember my mother taking us to the Palace to watch Vincent Price in “House on Haunted Hill.” At one part in the movie, where a skeleton rises up from an acid pit in the ground, out from the side of the stage comes a skeleton hanging from a wire, and it traveled across the stage to the other side, then disappeared. It was one of William Castle’s special effects, and it is something I will never forget. I was 11 or 12 at the time. Funny the things we remember from our youth. But at least they were good times.

Oh yeah...I remember that scene very well!! Scared the BeJesus out of me too! Great horror actors back then! I exposed my kids to all those old horror flicks as they were growing up, so they have an appreciation of what came before. My youngest, who will be 48 next month, is still a big Universal Monsters fan.

Just recalled that another one of my movie favorites as a kid was Vincent Price in “The Tingler.” I remember going to the Lincoln Theater (we used to call it the Stinkin’ Lincoln) with my brother to see that. Won a Davy Crockett rifle (it fired caps) at the Lincoln during one of their Saturday morning cartoon jamborees. I’m female, and my brother who was four years older than me was jealous...especially because my mother had made him take me to the theater.

LOL!! I remember the vibrating chair was a William Castle feature in some theaters...but not in ours. If you'd ever seen the Lincoln Theater back then, you'd know you had to look first before you sat on any seat in that place. It was built prior to 1913. The carpets were so full of gunk that your feet stuck to it when you walked on it. It's a good thing I never saw it with the lights fully on. I probably never would have gone back.

Two stories. When I was at Minot AFB, I received an e-mail from the IG office at ACC headquarters at Langley AFB from of office relevant to my office. It advised us the their office would be closed the next day and possibly more because they were expecting an inch of snow. I printed it and stuck it on the wall behind my desk with the statement that it was proof the fighter pilots are wimps.

Second, while in San Antonio at Randolph AFB, there were a couple of days in January that got down to freezing. While driving into base in the morning, I found myself behind three Texas State Trooper cars driving at 25mph and blocking any cars from passing them. They weren’t going to let anyone drive faster than that on the freeway.

Too many people driving electric cars or flying commercial. We need more usage of fossil fuels.
