I wrote a program that analyzes scoring by looking only at mutual opponents and opponents of opponents. It shows Duke with a scoring edge over Virginia by (85) - (66).
BTW, in NCAA football it showed Clemson with a scoring edge over Alabama.
This is not a predictor, rather an analysis of previous scores. As of this morning, it’s looked at over 7500 games.
It’s fun to watch.
Daughter is attending Duke. I expect her to be at the game.
The loss to Syracuse was tough. The 3 pointer at the halftime break from crazy and cost Duke the game: https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/watch-syracuse-ends-first-half-against-duke-with-70-foot-buzzer-beater-to-help-keep-game-close/
I think you need to rewrite your program!
(UVa is going to win.)

From eight years ago, or this season?!
Virginia has been crushing (almost) everyone this year. Even the equipment manager gets to play during the last three minutes. (This particularly narrowed the score in their game against Florida State. Virginia only won by 13 over the ninth ranked team at the time.)

I’m loading only this season right now.
The program, this morning, has 1320+ teams (Div I-III), and has about 7900 games. There were about 17 million matrix calculations involved. My PC is Win7, 3.5GHz, and it takes about 18 seconds to complete. (JAVA is not fast.)
It only looks at the scores in a chain of mutual opponents. I didn’t care for the overall summaries.
I’ve used it for NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, World Cup Soccer and NCAA basketball and football. It’s a lot of fun to compare the analytics with actuals.
I could not care less about a college basketball game.
