That use to not be a problem as long as it was on your free time, but I guess times have changed.

A much higher percentage of the diseases are resistant to treatment, and the host country is trying to reign in the sex trades and requested (in as much as the command can stop our troops from participating) help from nations docking troops in the Philippines.

When I was there were plenty of girls for those looking for someone to marry - no need to hire a pro. Had we not had a sudden troop movement I would have married young.

Back when we used to win wars. Who (or what) would turn in their skipper?

Although, if he catches something that won't wash off, the Navy will pay for it the rest of his life.

The problem here is the captain broke the law. Prostitution is illegal in the P.I. We can argue whether or not it should be but the bottom line is; right now it is. A lot of the women involved in prostitution in the P.I. are sex-trafficked and aren’t prostitutes on their own free will. That is likely how the navy is looking at this.

Being retired military myself (31+ years) I don’t want commanders who decide which laws they will obey and which ones they will ignore, especially commanders of nuclear subs holding TS/SCI since they would be subject to blackmail. I’ve had several commanders over the course of my career that decided to break some laws to benefit their personal agendas, including a couple of CICs, and I prefer a boss that obeys the laws of the land. You either obey the law or you’re a hypocrite. The level of law you are allowed to break and it be “ok” isn’t in the eye of the beholder until it violates our constitution, then the lawgiver becomes the lawbreaker.
