Okay.
I’ll take you word for it!.................
#5 This version does all the same cut and paste, copy and paste, drag and drop, Send to, Open with, make background, Etc, with the mouse just like Win 7. All these same Windows mouse features are why I make the claim it is like Win 7.
I also understand that GNU is not Unix.
I have cinnamon mint 17.3 and it blows windoze away. My Linux pc using a single 64bit CPU is faster than my windoze pc that has. Dual 64bit CPU.
Word of advice....
If people need to read a book to understand the differences between Windows and Linux, I’m pretty sure they’re going to skip reading the book and stick with what they know, and what they know is Windows.
Al you little old ladies browsing FR need to delete your Windows and install a new operating system.
“Linux is NOT Windows”
Yeah, Linux can’t be hacked by high school students.
“Al you little old ladies browsing FR need to delete your Windows and install a new operating system.”
NO ONE tells this old lady what to do,NO ONE.:-)
(I like Windows 7——adequate for my needs.)
.
Says the fanboy who wrote 35,052 characters about it.
"Why should Linux want me?"
What does this even mean? It's not a clever turn of phrase although the author clearly believes it is.
The entire piece is a protest-too-much piece of sophistry. 'No no, we don't care about you but let us tell you how much you should care about us.'
In that sense, it's the perfect encapsulation of passive-aggressive nature of so many Linux users who claim to be agnostic about other operating systems but can't resist an opportunity to criticize The Other Guys. They seem unable to grasp the concept of drawing more flies with honey than vinegar. And they have an unlimited supply of vinegar.
I guess that since I refuse to use a smart phone I’m stuck on XP forever.
Because of some of the applications I use within Win7 (audio processing, photo processing, spreadsheets, etc.), I probably would continue to use Win7 for those after MS stops providing security updates in January 2020.
What I hope to be able to do with Linux, at least at the beginning, is browse and access my critical accounts over the Internet in relative safety. The rest of it can stay on my disconnected PC, if needed.
Good article, thanks for posting.
Well put.
Linux geeks are like lawyers. Not folks you want to hang around with if you don't have to.
We changed to Linux after That Company pulled the sneaky trick of forcing 10 onto our computer.
We don’t do anything very fancy with Linux, but I’ve had no problem adapting to it despite having limited computer expertise.
There, fixed it.
Now that I've gotten my feet wet with Ubuntu, when I use a Windows machine I feel like a need a shower afterwards.
You are exactly right, MF (my friend, not that other “MF”).
Someone who has only used Windows XP will probably find it easier to migrate to Linux Mint than to Windows 10.
