Windows Update breakage ... PING!

You can find all the Windows Ping list threads with FR search: just search on keyword "windowspinglist".

I finally upgraded to Windows 10 because of all the problems. I have to admit my system has been much more stable since. I think they have finally worked the bugs out of 10.

I’m surprised Microsoft is still even maintaining Windows 7 - getting pretty old at this point.

Microsoft has so marginalized itself in everyone’s minds compared with before.

Their cloud offerings are an afterthought compared with Amazon AWS, too.

Microsoft’s car efforts (Sync) were terminated very shortly after being used by Ford. I have Sync and it doesn’t work well.

Microsoft’s entire line of phone OSs were deep-sixed because they were so poor. I’ve had two Microsoft-based phones and they didn’t work well or get decent updates.

I can’t stand the privacy issues and dozens of settings needing to be tweaked on my Windows 10 computers. Consequently, I dual boot into Linux Mint whenever I can.

May Microsoft rest in peace.

Many people don’t have to tolerate Windows at all. There are a couple of great alternatives.

Updates to Windows 7? Reminds me of the woman in a 10 year coma who comes up pregnant.

I have a Win 7 machine that is 6 years old at least.

I turned off auto updates on it before I ever went online with it. It’s behind a router, I have always run AV and firewall with occasional malware checks and weekly registry cleaning.

MS has never had the chance to break it.

Geez, they screwed up Outlook a couple of months back, and now this. Just uninstalled that so-called update.

Wow, they still make windows?
People still trouble shoot it as unpaid MS tech workers?
.......

Peacefully Windows-Free for +8 years.
No viruses.
No malignant software.
No updates that didn’t work.
No reinstalling windows.
No reinstalling drivers.

Thanks. I suspended auto-update some time back.

I just checked and see that KB4480970, KB4481480 and KB890830 are waiting to be installed.
My last update was 12-12-2018.

What should I do?

As a “Use Win 7 till I die” person, I’m really glad MSFT updates are turned off here. Glad that updates CAN BE turned off.

I’ve got a new Intel 500GB SSD that is partioned 300gb and 200GB. The 200GB is for Win 7 Pro and the 300GB is for Linux Mint Cinnamon, my first try with Linux.

Never touch MS again because of their greed and deception. Linux Mint is far far superior and more secure. Runs just like Win 7 in now it operates with NO updates needed. You don’t even need an antivirus. There is nothing for windows that can’t be found for Linux including office suites.

Why folks keep abusing themselves with MS I have no clue. There is a whole free world out there where MS doesn’t own you.

Only Microsoft could address a “speculative execution side-channel vulnerability” with a “fix” that breaks connectivity with certainty.

Good luck with the regular upgrades on Win 10.

It cashes upon upgrades frequently.
